According to the online instruction manual available here at the Auto Zone site, you need to loosen the left engine mount and slightly raise the engine to provide clearance to get the starter out.

I have a 2002 mercury mountaineer that wont turn over at all the battery is good and there's a clicking noise coming from the relay box what would that be

The clicking noise will be relays. Possibly a starter relay and thats normal. Sounds as if the starter moter may be the culprit. You have to check for start power at the starter solenoid while cranking before any further daignostics can be done. Sometimes tapping on the starter motor while holding the key in the crank position will start the vehicle. If so the stater motor is defective

Citroen troubleshooting

well since the starter was only 2 months old i am betting its an ignition short. When u turn the key, the solenoid on the starter engages the bendix gear with the engines flywheel and then energizes the starter motor. And when u release the ignition the solenoid and the starter motor should de-energize. hope this helps you.

How do you get the stater out of a 2002 gmc duramax once it is unbolted, all areas are to small to get starter out i took the wheel shroud out tire off i have full acess but am unable to get starter out to...

jack up truck, remove tire, remove plastic cowling and expose front right wheel may want to wash this side of engine at this point. Remove battery cables, remove the 13 mm nut and 8mm nuts on the solenoid. take a 15mm socket and remove the upper and lower holding bolts. Use an extra long extension for the lower bolt. Ratchet out in front of the A-arm. Dislocate the starter from the fly wheel side of starter. wiggle, jiggle and point the starter gear at a 45 down and PULL starter out and down.

I want to know how to remove the stater motor and replace it

first locate the starter. it will be on either side of the motor where the motor joins the transmission.

first and MOST IMPORTANT. unhook the battery. as a side note if your stereo is of the anti-theft variety make sure you know the code and how to enter it.

undo the bolts there are usually 2 and sometimes 3

do NOT unhook the wires from the starter until you have the replacement in hand.

transfer the wires one at a time from the old to the new starter so that you will have them in the right place.

bolt the starter back up

hook up the battery

that's about all there is to it.

If the clicking sound is coming from the engine bay, from the relay, you may want to have the starter itself checked out. You need to check if the ground cable from the engine to the chassis is secured. If that is OK, you may want to have the starter motor checked.

2002 Ford Explorer 6 CD player is locked out.

If it is anything like the Ford Escort, you can hold down number '6' whilst turning it on. This will give you another 3 attempts!

Use carefully, as after those 3 attempts you have had your lot!
