Question about 2003 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

Phone Charger Plug

I keep my change in the ashtray of the console and my cover protective cover broke off on my 2003 VW Jetta. I keep change in the ashtray and every now and again a penny or dime would drop in the outlet causing the fuse to burn out. Now I replaced the fuse and it still won't work. Is it possible to burn this whole piece out or is there another fuse somewhere that needs to replaced other than the fuse box?

You can burn out your lighter, you can look down inside of it and if it looks black or very dark brown then you need to replace the lighter. Cost about 10 dollars at a local autoparts store and then about 30 minutes of your time.

Hi

You need to replace the fuse, and test at the plug socket, with a 12V test light. you can pick one up at any D I Y Store.

I expect you will find you require a new cigarete lighter.

Good Luck !

A FixYa Rating would be appreciated Please !

John.

EPC light should have nothing to do with the shift interlock,(EPC is traction control) should be a small cap or plug on the console, near the shifter that has the interlock disengage button, usually done with a key, check shift interlock in the owners manual.

Is there a buzzer for the lights on 2003 jetta?

depends on market....key in ignition open door, buzzer....key out of ignition lights on,buzzer.BUT.....pull dipswitch toward you (flasher)with key out NO BUZZER. VW pull out anything that costs to make a car cheaper for any given market.even a cigarette lighter is missing on some cars.......no ashtray in others.....

My 2002 VW Jetta cigarette lighter will not work. I have tried replacing the fuse, and nothing. How do I (myself) change the cigarette lighter? Thanks for your help!!!

You need a dc current test light to see if it is getting current, or plug in a cell phone charger to see if you are getting current. Our it could be the the lighter insert, a burnt out element and not the socket.
