Sounds more like an intermittant connector; it may be concealed under a cover on the back of the mirror housing. If you have soleved the problem, please drop back and tell us briefly how it was resolved in case another has the same problem. These types of failures don't normally happen in isolation.

Rear view mirror map lights are out 2000 buick century

Mine does that occasionally intermittently but if you look around in the back of the mirror you'll see some wires, those are most likely broken.
I had the mirror completely fall off the windshield and had a windshield installation company reattach it because I knew it took a specialty glass glue, well they broke one of the wires but not completely so it shorts out but a wiggle makes the lights come back on and I'm just to busy to take the mirror off the mount and fix it right. You can remove the mirror from the piece that attaches it to the windshield.
Check those wires, good luck

The theft light is on and won't go off. And so therefore, I can't crank my 2000 cadilac escalade. what do I need to do?

It may be an immobilizer issue.
You will need a diagnostic computer to pull up any fault codes.

What is the button under rearview mirror for

The button on the bottom of the mirror is called the auto rear view dimming.

This button when turned on will dim the lights of the car behind you if they are bright lights. it is like the older cars where you would flip the lever on the bottom of the mirror if a car behind you had high beam lights on and it was shining in your eyes at night. this will do it automaticly hope this helps good day

Rear view mirror does not change to night view

I have allot of experience with these mirrors, if your just stopped working it lasted longer than most, many never even made it out of factory warranty, the problem is the mirror not any fuse, the cost of the new unit is around $200.
