Light sensors for a 2000 cadilac escalade. we have to wiggle rear view mirror to sometimes make daytome lights go off and night light to come on. dont know ifs its a short or sensor?

It will be advisable to get the technician do that for for.

Take it back to the dealership and have it fixed under warranty.

Mine does that occasionally intermittently but if you look around in the back of the mirror you'll see some wires, those are most likely broken.
I had the mirror completely fall off the windshield and had a windshield installation company reattach it because I knew it took a specialty glass glue, well they broke one of the wires but not completely so it shorts out but a wiggle makes the lights come back on and I'm just to busy to take the mirror off the mount and fix it right. You can remove the mirror from the piece that attaches it to the windshield.
Check those wires, good luck

The button on the bottom of the mirror is called the auto rear view dimming.

This button when turned on will dim the lights of the car behind you if they are bright lights. it is like the older cars where you would flip the lever on the bottom of the mirror if a car behind you had high beam lights on and it was shining in your eyes at night. this will do it automaticly hope this helps good day

This is for auto dimm view at night. A little small green ligh will lighte if it is on.Also there is a switch in the lower trim edge to put it on.
And if it is smooking must be a shortage some where.
Any way u can do with out it just make sure that what ever is causing the short is not somewhere else.

It is to dim the headlights in your rear veiw mirror at night. Just not it does not work for hallogine (blue) lights.

Replace your rear view mirror assembly. The light sensor is built into the rear view mirror and the fail quite frequently.

check fuses

PUT A PEICE OF TAPE OVER THE LIGHT SENSOR, IT WILL EITHER BE IN THE DASH OR ON THE REAR VIEW MIRROR, SMALL CLEAR, LOOKS LIKE AN EYE

I have allot of experience with these mirrors, if your just stopped working it lasted longer than most, many never even made it out of factory warranty, the problem is the mirror not any fuse, the cost of the new unit is around $200.
