Replace 97 Camry passenger side mirror

Do I have to remove the door panel in order to install a passenger-side (motorized, not heated) mirror?  I read on this site that this was necessary for the 1994 model, but at first glance this seem not necessary for the 97. Any general suggestions on this would also be appreciated.

I have a 1999 Toyota Camry built in Japan. So I have the wiring plug behind the black mirror cover. I purchased an used mirror that is for an American made Toyota Camry. The wiring plug is different. Both plugs have three wires but both plugs are female so I can not plug them together. I need a wiring diagram so I can wire up the American mirror to the Japan plug. Does any one have a wiring diagram for the motorized mirror?

    The colors of the three wires are;

    Blue

    Purple

    Yellow

What is each color for? up, down, in, out?

If you pull off the triangular black plastic trim behind the mirror, you will see the mirror wiring. If there is no plug, you will have to pull off the door panle. .....SOME Japanese cars have the plugs, but not all of them...Americian built cars do not. They are different.

Sorry, but it requires removing the door panel even if you have a plug. The plug is located too far down in the door to get access. You could splice the wires without removing the door panel. In my case since it is the passenger side mirror, I find I rarely adjusted it anyway, so I just bolted the mirror on and didn't connect it until I eventually had to remove the door panel to replace the speaker.

How to replace passenger side mirror on 2007 Camry

To remove mirror pry off inside triangle panel(black) which exposes 3 nuts which are removed with socket wrench. Detach wire harness and pull out mirror assembly. To replace insert new mirror screws thru assigned holes and reconnect wire harness and tighten nuts to snug. Push inside triangle panel back into place and you're done! It's that easy.

How to remove passenger door panel on 97 lesabre

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you can remove the bolts holding the mirror on

Need to replace Mirror Assembly, 03 suburban

Your going to have to remove the inside door panel to get to the three bolts that hold the out side mirror assembly. Once you have the door panel off you'll see the three bolts that hold the mirror assembly, just un-bolt and un-clip the wire harness to the electric/heated mirror. To install the new mirror assembly, just do everything in reveres. Go to Auto Zone and by extra door panel clips, there is a good chance of breaking some of the retainer clips and Auto Zone will have the step by step instructions to replacing the mirror assembly and the removal to the door panel. Good luck and keep me posted. Be glad to help.

INSTALL SIDE VIEW MIRROR ON A 1997 TOYOTA CAMRY

Yes, you have to remove the door panel.

Remove the 2 plastic protectors on the front edge, and remove the 2 brass colored screws. Next, remove the push pins from the latch side. Push in, and pull out the whole thing. Next, under the armrest, remove the screw. Lift up the power windoe control, being careful to not break the plastic retainer tab. Remove the screw under the window control. Starting at the bottom, pull out the panel, and, when all of the clips are loose, pull the panel straight up. It is best to do this with the door panel as warm as possible, like in a heated garage. Doing this outside in the cold will break all of the plastic retainer clips; they are quite brittle whn cold.

    I hope this helps

Remove door trim to install side mirror.

ft door panel has 2 round covers for 2 screws, arm rest has 2 0r 3 screws(ft mid and rear of rest) 2 push in clips on right side of panel, 1 cover for screw middle about 6 inches from bottom. tricky part is door handle bezel. where the inner handle pivots, insert small screwdriver and pry up,it should pop out and do the same for the bottom. p.s. be very cautious with regulator when installing it to motor.if cables come unspooled, your screwed.

I need to replace passenger side mirror on 97 ford expedition

Both above answers are not right... I just replaced the Pass side power mirror assembly on my 97 Expedition. No heat, no directional.
The inside door panel must come off.
    1. pry off interior triangular plastic trim piece inside of door at mirror area. Remove door panel screw at this area.
    2. Pry off power window switch panel and remove door panel screw at this area.
3.Remove interior door light cover and remove screw at this area.
    4. Remove plastic cover at door handle.
    5. The interior door panel can now be lifted up to release it from it's fasteners.
    6. Disconnect light and push power window switch assembly through the door panel and it can be set aside.
    7. Disconnect mirror power at coupler.
8 Loosen three mirror mounting screws with 7/16 socket. DO NOT unscrew completely.. the will fall down the door cavity. Use a round magnet on holder to remove the screws completely.
9.Thread electrical connection into door panel and install mirror.
    10. Smile when mirror works and drink a beer!
