What is the Proper Way to DEGREASE my ENGINE @ Car Wash Degreaser

What is the Proper Way to DEGREASE my ENGINE @ the Car Wash Degreaser Station?
I'm told car washes sometimes have degreaser guns for degreasing engines!
Can I degrease the whole under-carriage?
Should the car be running?
Are there any precautions I should take?
What is the proper procedure?
Please Help!
I'm clueless!

If so have you had any problems or should I try to stay away from electrical stuff?

You should not have any problem if you don't concentrate on the electrical components. What i mean is stay away from them as much as possible, and don't use alot of pressure wear you can blow things off. Myself i do it at home with a can of degreaser and a garden hose, If you do it at a car wash take a can of WD40 with you incase it stalls or wont start after you do it,WD40 displaces moisture, you would be better off doing it in your own driveway if your aloud too. You can wash any part you want. watch your paint on car, some of that degreaser can take off paint.

This is how i degrease my car engines, I spray degreaser all over the engine, I leave degreaser for 5-8 minutes then i start the car, then get a garden hose and wash the engine while the car is running. been doing so for 3 years never had a problem, if you wash the engine whit the car off you will have a very hard time starting.

Hi my husband cleaned our engine today with degreaser at the car wash and now our car is tugging and it not catching gear or catching speed. Does any one know what this means or can help.

Hello, Not knowing what year, make, or engine you have. I suspect you have moisture inside of the distributor cap and/or spark plug wires.

By degrease, I assume you mean clean/wash? You have a short somewhere. Probably by the ignition coil.

How to degrease an engine

What I do is give it a high pressure wash first to get all the heavy grease first. Don't know the style of your car but all the newer cars don't have a problem with water.Just don't spray directly into the Alternator, After the motor dries from first wash spray on the degreaser and go by the directions. If it's wet it gust gets diluted. Get in there close and expect to get a mouth full of water-grease.Watch you eyes too.

2000 ford taurus oil fumes under the hood

My suggestion is to make sure there's no oil spilled from putting any in. Take it to a car wash leave engine ON stay away from fuse box and battery tray. Use the engine degreaser mode and wash your engine rinse thoroughly with the rinse mode after. If the problem still occurs. Check to see around top of motor if any smoke is coming out or if fluid is coming from valve cover. If so replace the valve cover gasket which is usually cheap.

Need to wash my engine.how should i do it?

Make sure you cover the distributor cap. You can go to a self serve car wash, pick up a couple of cans of Gunk Engine Degreaser, some car washes have a setting for engine cleaner.

Engine has old oil in many places--cannot see where leak is--how do you properly wash off an engine?

u either rent a pressure washer or buy engine degreaser from the local parts store and use a pressure nozzle on a garden hose, let the degreaser sit for 20 minutes to do its job before washing it off, aviod ignition system components with direct spray.

My 87 Cressida won't start.....

Suggestion:-
Check battery will supply power to headlights etc. - if not:-

Check your battery terminal connections - these may be dirty/corroded - in cleaning you may have disturbed the terminal posts and caused a high resistance joint.
Check battery to chassis ground connection.
