03 ford Taurus - overdrive indicator / check engine light (P0755 & P0758)

The trans was rebuilt 7 months ago, and now I have an intermittent prob with the overdrive indicator and check engine light (codes P0755 & P0758). This happened once before, and seems as though it may be connected to driving through water.Any suggestions?

had a trans guy look at it, and he siad it's probably a sensor problem that would require the trans to be removed to check. He said to stay out of puddles, since getting it wet could be causing the issue (thanks!) but since it's running & shifting well, I shouldn't need to do anything at this point. As much as I like this answer (it's cheap to not do anything), I feel like I'm just waiting for the boom to drop.

I didn't know that was the reputation. Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, the shop that did the re-build went out of business (go figure!)

check the transmission fluid first .

overdrive allows the engine to run at lower RPM's , which increases the fuel

SOURCE: indicator for trans axle flashing on my 2000 ford taurus

could be low or dirty (contaminated) fluid , pull the stick and check the level and look at the fluid on a clean white paper towel.. if any really black gunk appears or fluid is a dark brown, time for fluid/filter change...also check detent (downshift ) cable at the tbi unit all the cables usually meet at the same spot throttle etc.. be sure it is not broken or disconnected..good luck..

03 Taurus intermittent misfire blinking CEL no codes loss of power

If the CEL is blinking this should mean codes are set. Light may go out when intermittent problem cures itself, but code should still be stored. If not, I'm stumped.

How should I go about diagnosing and repairing a 2002 Ford Taurus with 50,000 miles that is giving off multiple transmission error codes but shifts and runs fine and has no symptoms other than the war

Was the car parked because it had these codes 2 years ago? You need to check all connections for corrosion and or being loose to start with, including the battery cables and then load test battery.. The codes indicate that a sensor or solenoid is not getting power. There is no easy simple way to find out which it is. You will need a book to guide you through steps of diagnosing because the circuits have different voltage signals at different connections.

When was the last time you had the transmission filter and fluid changed? Sounds like the filter is clogged.

Just got trans changed on my 1993 ford taurus sho and now my overdrive off light will not light up when button is push to turn overdrive off.

this is a common issue on these cars and since you just had the trans replaced, whoever did the work needs to check the connections at the switch and at the trans-and these switched go bad, but the fact that it was just done to too much of a coincidence.

I bought a used Ford explorer sport with 80K on it. Shortly after purchasing it. the overdrive light indication on the dash display will intermittently blink. I took it to my mechanic they checked the code...

Best quality is never the cheapest price. Replacing the solenoid pack is MUCH less that having the trans rebuilt. and usually they replace the solenoid pack as part of the rebuild. So find a trans shop that will trouble shoot the trans and come up with a plan of action. 80K is young for trans trouble, but you never know about past servicing, overloading or abuse.

Transmission intermittently goes into the limp mode

You need a code reader. It does sound more like an electrical prob than a trans failure you could rebuild the whole trans and it just does it again. Invest in the full shop manual including the electrical one. I would get on the BMW fanatic forumns,
