Re: ford fairmont 1992
First to remove the fan you will need a big spanner 1, 1/4 inch to be precise and a large hammer. with the fan belts still on and tight from the top, place the spanner on the nut just behind the fan with the spanner pointing straight up. then jar the spanner with the hammer towards the battery,(opposite direction to a normal bolt) once jared loose you should be able to turn the nut off. when refitting just do up firm with spanner

need a new key. Smartlock ECU not recognising the right key in the ignition barrel. I had same prob with mine. There should be a code stamped on the door lock barrel. You will have to remove it to read it. There might be a code on the boot barrel too. This might be easier to access, so I would try him first.
check for low coolant, the cooling fan clutch could be faulty it is free wheeling all the time, when engine is hot fan clutch should have some resistance when you turn it by hand. if all is good, your ignition timing could be off, your radiator and engine need flushing out,you could have faulty water pump, a bad egr valve will cause engine over heat if stuck closed which will engine combustion temperature get hotter.make sure you have 50 / 50 antifreeze and water in coolant system too much water in coolant system will cause engine over heat.also radiator pressure cap.check all those things i told you see what happens.
CHANGE THERMOSTAT RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP.CHECK THE COOLANT FAN CLUTCH.IF FAN WOBBLES AND FREEWHEEL WITH NO RESISTANCE THE FAN CLUTCH IS BAD.IF FAN CLUTCH IS GOOD.PROBLEM COULD BE STOPPED UP RADIATOR CORES AND THE IGNITION TIMING IS OFF ENGINE WILL OVER HEAT.
You have either a one-of-a-kind car or you are wrong on the year or model.
Fairmont didn't extend beyond 1983.
If you have no experience working on engines, I recommend you buy the Haynes manual for the car:
try one from a 92 it should work better, know really i cant think why there would be a prob if it bolted up wright, its pretty simple how it works press the clutch and force hydraulic fluid threw line ,makes the slave cylinder engage the clutch shift i don't think works off the brain so its got to be mechanical some times it helps to step away from it for while! good luck
