Have any lamps been replaced in the rear? If so, the lamps have to be the same because the info center checks the the resistance of the bulbs. You can not substitute a 2057 for a 1057.

I just bought a 95 jeep Cherokee limited. I have the key to lock the doors, but wondered if wondered it came with central locking button? If so where can i get one.?

I had the same question, and I found the answer at my local locksmith.
Your locksmith can tell you how to find out this answer.
He also said to me, "If, when you first turn on your key, there comes a red light on your dashboard showing a the picture of a key, that means you have central locking, and you can buy a remoter for it if you wish", (locksmiths sell them).
God bless your efforts.

My interior light won't come on in my 1999 Buick Lesabre. I have checked the bulb & the fuse. Can anyone help me with this problem? Any ideas are sincerely appreciated.

Courtesy Lights
The courtesy lights come on under the following conditions:
?€¢
Any door is opened.

?€¢
The interior lamp switch is in the ON position.

?€¢
The keyless entry transmitter unlocks the doors (illuminated entry).

When the key is removed from the ignition switch with all of the doors closed, the courtesy lights light for approximately 25 seconds before fading out.
Battery positive voltage (B+) is applied at all times through the IP fuse block CTSY LP/PWR MIR fuse 6A via CKT 640 (ORN) through the body control module (MALL) to the courtesy lights via CKT 1732 (ORN). The MALL provides a ground through CKT 156 (WHT) for the courtesy lights under the following conditions:
?€¢
The MALL receives an input from a door being opened.

?€¢
The MALL receives an input from the interior lamp being turned ON.

?€¢
The MALL receives an input from the doors being unlocked using the keyless entry transmitter.

The courtesy lamps then light.
When the courtesy lights are activated by opening and closing a door, the courtesy lights will remain on for approximately 25 seconds before fading out after all of the doors are closed. If the ignition switch is turned to START or RUN within the 25 seconds, the lights immediately begin to fade out. If a door is left open, the MALL removes battery positive voltage (B+) to the courtesy lights after 10 minutes. When the courtesy lights are activated by the interior lamp switch, the lights remain on as long as the interior lamp switch is in the ON position. When the courtesy lights are activated by unlocking the doors using the keyless entry transmitter, the lights remain on for approximately 40 seconds. If the doors are locked using the keyless entry transmitter within the 40 seconds, the lights immediately begin to fade out.
Body Control Module (MALL) Diagnostic Mode
For a detailed explanation of the MALL module diagnostic mode, refer to Body Control Module Cell 51.
What interior light ? Dome , courtesy lights etc....They don't work with switch, keyless entry , door opening ?

Trunk release for 98 pont gp no power, can't find the fuse and the switch itself was checked and was good

Check trunk release solenoid for power and ground when applied from switch. If power and ground ok, then release solenoid is the problem in the trunk lock mechanism. If misssing power or ground, then electrical diagnostics will be required

Repeatedly blows fuse to dash lights and tail lights. I have replaced the multifunction switch and the 20 pin plug to the mfs.

I chose an SE model but all models should be basically the same. If the fuse does not blow with the headlamp switch off, that could mean there is a short somewhere on the BLK/YEL wire. Check pin 9 for a short. The BLK/YEL wire feeds the instrument cluster, the remote keyless entry module, the marker lamps, the park lamp filaments, and the license lamp. Try removing all rear lamps to eliminate them as a source of the short. If you can disconnect the cluster and the remote keyless entry module, check them. If no short is found, turn on the park lamps and reconnect/reinstall items until you find what's wrong.

Fog lights dont work and like to know my keyless entry code

Lets do the easier question first. Have you checked the fuse for the fog lamps? if not the fuse for it is located in the power distribution box located in the engine compartment (see picture below). The fuse for the fog lamps is in the number 44 position and is a 15 amp fuse (see other picture below) now as far as your keyless entry code, this will be tricky but I will do my best to explain how to find it. I'll do my best or it's a 50 dollar trip to the dealer for you. Here i go. The keyless entry code is located on the computer module. The best way to get to the computer module is look behind the right rear panel in the "truck" space. First pull off the right rear seat belt panel then pull back the lower panel. You will see a green plug and the computer module is right below it. There should be a sticker on it with your five digit code. Everything should just snap back together when putting everything back. I hope you understood that as I'm not the best at explaining things. I hope this helps and good luck. If you have any other questions about your vehicle you can email me at csautomotivecars@att.net and I will do my best to help. Here's your pictures:

Key Pad Entry does not work

does the key pad light when you press a button at night? If yes, the fuse is ok.
Do you have the plastic card with the permanent code in your owner manual packet? If yes, tryit.
report back.

Keyless Entry The keyless entry keypad is hardwired to the GEM. The GEM interprets the inputs from the keyless entry keypad and then controls the associated operation. The keyless entry keypad will be illuminated for five seconds when any button is pressed. Additionally, it will request the illuminated entry feature to turn the courtesy lamps on. If a lock all doors code is entered, the illumination will turn off, as well as request the illuminated entry feature to turn off the courtesy lamps. When pressed, the keyless entry keypad supplies the ground signal to the GEM or the GEM receives a signal from the keyless entry remote transmitter. Then the GEM outputs a ground signal to the appropriate lock or unlock relay which supplies the power to the actuator to lock or unlocks all doors, including the luggage compartment. The keyless entry remote transmitter also unlocks the liftgate or activates the panic alarm by sending a signal to the GEM.

Fuse or what

Your multifunction switch on the steering column controls your exterior lights. The GEM module controls the interior lights and other stuff. If bad, it would not blow fuses. WHich fuse blows?
Your Ford dealer might be familiar with this issue, so call the service dept and ask them and get a quote. It may be wiring.

--------------------------------------------------------------
Principles of Operation
Generic Electronic Module (GEM) The generic electronic module (GEM) receives inputs from the following:
  • door ajar switches
  • liftgate ajar switch (wagon)
  • liftgate glass switch (wagon)
  • headlamp switch
  • keyless entry keypad switches
  • the powertrain control module (PCM) (vehicle speed signal)
  • ignition switch
  • remote keyless entry transmitter
The GEM uses these inputs to control the output to the battery saver relay and interior lamp relay. Both relays are integral to the central junction box (CJB) and cannot be accessed directly.
Interior Lighting Systems The GEM grounds the battery saver relay and interior lamp relay coils when any door ajar switch or the headlamp switch is closed. The interior lamp relay then supplies power to the interior lamp circuit. Vehicle speed must be less than 15 kph (9 mph) for the GEM to ground the interior lamp relay. The interior lamps will remain illuminated for a period of up to 25 seconds after all doors are closed or until the ignition is switched from the OFF position, or the GEM receives a vehicle speed signal. Actuating the interior lights from the headlamp switch will operate at any time.
Illuminated Entry Illuminated entry is activated when a keyless entry keypad switch provides ground on the GEM input or when the GEM receives an unlock signal from the remote keyless entry key fob. The GEM then provides ground to the battery saver and interior lamp relay coils. Illuminated entry is deactivated when the GEM receives a lock signal from the remote keyless entry key fob or if the GEM receives ground inputs from the keyless entry keypad switch lock code. Illuminated entry will also be deactivated when the GEM receives input voltage from the ignition switch.
Battery Saver The battery saver is activated when the GEM is not receiving voltage input from the ignition switch (off position). The GEM will then provide ground to the battery saver relay coil for a maximum of 30 minutes depending on the state of the interior lamp switch inputs to the GEM. The energized battery saver relay switches voltage to the demand lamp circuit and the interior lamp relay coil. After time-out, the GEM removes ground to the battery saver relay disabling the demand lamp circuit.
Puddle Lamps The puddle lamp relay operates reverse from the battery saver relay and the interior lamp relay. The puddle lamp relay coil receives voltage when the ignition switch is in the START or RUN position, which disables the circuit to the puddle lamps.
Inspection and Verification
  1. Verify the customer concern by operating the system.
  1. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage.

1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee electrical problem

Check the center brake light assembly. There are 3 bulbs and if one is out it will give you the bulb out warning. This is frequently missed as if the center bulb is out it is easy to overlook.

Do yourself a favor and replace all 3 when you are there as the dissassembly/assembly is not that easy on 96-98 Grands
