1990 chev c1500 sounds like its running on six cylinders
On night i was backing my truck outta my shop and i revved it a little as i was backing out to please my younger brother. as i revved it up suddenly i heard the truck start to miss really bad as if it was running on six cylinders. has anyone had this problem? any ideas of what it could be?

Sounds like you may have ruined the piston rings and this is allowing oil to seep in to the combustion chamber hence your smoke. Or if it overheated when you ran out of oil it is possible that you have a bad head gasket now. Check both your coolant and oil for signs, oil will have a white froth, or darkening of your coolant.

timing chain may be bad put the cylinder on #1 up to the top and make sure the timing marks on the front pully is pointing to the fromt timing mark o degrees next pull #1 plug pull distributor cap and move the fan back and forth watch the rotor if it takes time to move then you have a badtiming chain. if not try replacing the oil pressure switch behind and below the distributior.
