Steering knuckle Will a knuckle from a FWD 1992 Eclipse fit and match perfectly a AWD 1992 Eclipse?

It really should ive never noticed a difference but with the different suspension systems there could very well be a difference i would recomend just look at them if they look the same then the should fit

remove lower ball joint and remove axle nut in the center of spindle. then move the spindle out of the way separating the axle from the spindle.

Does the rim size of a 95 Honda civic determine the size of the steering knuckle


No but the steering knuckle will determine the off set of the rim in use.. If there is excessive positive off set ,the rim will hit on the steering arm and possible the knuckle.. Talk to a tyre shop for advice as to what size rim to fit.

Hi, i have a ford ranger 1992 4x4. i want to replace the 4 ball joint. i take off everything. i just wonder and can i take off both solid axle shaft so i can take off the ball joint


The steering knuckle has to be removed so you can use a ball-joint press to remove and install the ball joints. The drive axles must be removed so there will be enough room to get the steering knuckle to drop down far enough so it can be removed.

no the configuration is much different to the bolt pattern and they are also balance differently as well. You can not mis match these or improvise there fit what so ever or internal engine damage will occur

I need step by step instructions to replace front struts.


1.Turn ignition to OFF position to place steering column in unlocked position.
2.Remove hub nut
3.Loosen, but do not remove, three top mount-to-shock tower
4.Raise vehicle on a hoist.
5.Remove tire and wheel assembly
6.Move brake caliper and wire out of the way
7.Remove brake rotor
8.Remove cotter pin from tie rod end stud and remove slotted nut.
Discard cotter pin and nut
9.remove tie rod from knuckle
10.Remove stabilizer bar link nut, and remove link from strut
11.Remove and discard lower arm-to-steering knuckle pinch bolt and nut. (A drift punch may be used to remove bolt.) Using a screwdriver, slightly spread knuckle-to-lower arm pinch joint and remove lower arm from steering knuckle.
12.Press halfshaft from hub
13.Remove shock absorber strut-to-steering knuckle pinch bolt. Using a large screwdriver, slightly spread knuckle-to-strut pinch joint, if required, for removal
14.Remove steering knuckle and hub assembly from shock absorber strut
15.Remove three top mount-to-shock tower nuts and remove strut and spring assembly from vehicle
16.Compress spring with Spring Compressor
17.Place 10mm box-end wrench on top of shock strut shaft and hold while removing top shaft retaining nut with a 21mm 6-point crow foot wrench and ratchet
18.Loosen Spring Compressor , then remove top mount bracket assembly, bearing plate assembly and spring.
INSTALLATION
1.Place a 10mm box-end wrench on top of shock strut shaft and hold while tightening top shaft retaining nut with a 21mm 6-point crow foot wrench and ratchet to 53-72 Nm (40-53 lb-ft).
2.Install strut and spring assembly and three top mount-to-shock tower nuts
3.Install steering knuckle and hub assembly to shock absorber strut.
4.Install a new shock absorber strut-to-steering knuckle pinch bolt. Tighten to 98-132 Nm (73-97 lb-ft).
5.Install halfshaft into hub
6.Install lower arm to steering knuckle ensuring that ball stud groove is properly positioned and boot seal is not damaged. Install a new pinch bolt and nut. Tighten to 53-72 Nm (40-53 lb-ft).
7.Install stabilizer bar link to strut and install a new stabilizer bar link nut. Tighten to 77-103 Nm (57-75 lb-ft).
8.Install tie rod end onto knuckle.
9.Install a new tie rod end slotted nut. Tighten to 31-47Nm (23-34 lb-ft).
10.Install a new slotted nut retaining cotter pin.
11.Install brake rotor
12.Install brake caliper
13.Install tire and wheel assembly
14.Tighten three top mount-to-shock tower nuts to 30-40Nm (23-29 lb-ft).
15.Lower vehicle and tighten hub nut to 230-275 Nm (170-202 lb-ft)
16.Depress brake pedal several times prior to moving vehicle.

1991 AWD CARAVAN TRANSMISSION


Unfortunately, this will not work. it seems like a good fit but in my experience, i have had problem with synchronizing the FWD with the AWD assembly. the CPU will not work as well. tried it twice with no success. It will be best to just continue to hunt for a twin AWD assembly to replce the failed one.

raise vehicle, remove wheel(s), take off your brake caliper(s) (two bolts). hold caliper in place with wire/string out of the way careful with brake line (you don't want to damage that(don't actualy remove the brake line from the caliper either) . separate steering knuckle from strut. (two large bolts on the strut) you may need to separate tie rod end from steering knuckle as well or if you can just push it far enough to the side, then remove the cotter pin from end of cv axle its the huge nut in the center of the wheel hub. then you remove the nut from the cv axle, now you're able to remove the wheel side of cv axle. do so by bending the cv at the (outermost boot and pushing out on the steering knuckle,there are teeth between the two you will have to line up when installing. next is the tricky part getting it out of the transaxle. you'll want a rubber mallet & long flat head screw driver to carefully tap the cv with the mallet while very carefully prying with the screwdriver. (small prybar prefered.cv is held in by a circlip basically a small circular piece of metal thats too big for the hole its in. once you get the cv seperated from the transaxle/transmission. remove it from vehicle and install in reverse order of removal. making sure all teeth line up and the cv clips firmly into trans. very important put in a new cotter pin when you get the cv though the hub and nut very tight . good luck (repair based on 93 eclipse gs 1.8l manual trans. other models similar.)
