04 PT Cruiser won't start/no spark to turn over

2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser (non turbo) w/2.4L engine won't start. I have replaced the battery, camshaft sensor and crankshaft sensor. All plugs & wires are receiving fire, ignition coil is working properly but car won't start. What else could be causing it not to turn over?

    The motor attempts to crank but doesn't fire up completely. It turns over and you can hear it trying but no spark to turn it over completely.

    Also when I try to turn it over my RPM gauge does not move at all. I can smell the gas when I try to start it and hold the ignition for a couple of seconds.

    How can I check for fuel pressure? Will the lack of pressure cause my tachometer to not move when attempting to start the car and for the car not to start?

What should the 2004 PT Cruiser GT Turbo spark plug gap be set to?

I'm guessing you have a timing problem. Have that checked first.

2008 pt cruiser - check engine light came on, within minutes it started to "power down" and and died. Won't start. What could cause this? BTW have changed spark plugs, camshaft sensore, cranks

My PT did that when my timing belt broke. It cost $500.00 to replace it. If it is broken, be ready to have some motor work done. I had to have to values replaced at a cost of $900.00. If your timing belt is not broken then check the alternator and battery. I was riding down the road and my PT shut all the way down and would not start. I had to leave it beside the road. It was my alternator. It gave me no warning.

Where is the camshaft located in a 2004 pt cruiser

The camshaft position sensor on an 04 pt is located on the right side of the engine, towards the top (looking at it from the front), directly in back behind the oil dipstick on a non-turbo

I blew the turbo on my 2005 pt cruiser limited ed. I replaced the entire turbo,and added new sparks...(only has 52k miles) Since then my car does not get over 65mph without feeling like its stalling...

What kind of spark plugs did you use??? Here is a list of plugs that you can use on your Turbo engine.

Champion
* Copper - stock # 440 - RE14MCC5 (OEM)
* Copper - stock # 470 - RE14MCC5 (supercedes/replaces # 440, but some catalogs same part #)
* Copper - RE16MC (supercedes/replaces RE14MCC5 and new Chrysler recommended gap is .040)

NGK
* Copper - LZTR4A-11 (supercedes/replaces RE14MCC5 and new * Chrysler recommended gap is .040)
* Copper - stock # 4306 - LZTR5A-13 (one range colder)

If you use the platinum spark plugs used on the Non-turbo engine, they will start to glow and cause misfires and can cause engine damage to saver detonations throughout the RPM cycle.

As for the over heating, you could have a blown head gasket from a severer detonation if you notice coolant and oil mixing in your engine and coolant tank. The less cause for over heating wold be a bad thermostat or a faulty radiator cooling fan, cooling fan relay or cooling fuse which is located in the engine compartment fuse box by the battery.

Good luck and thank you for using Fixya.
