Yes it could well be the transmissioin seal. is the fluid reddish? Go to a transmission shop and have them put your car on the rack to take a look see.

My 1992 Ford Taurus GL 3.0 is leaking Transmission fluid. But I don't know where.

many times hard to find trans. leaks come from the front trans. seal being worn the leak is mainly leaking down inside the flywheel/converter area and drip down to the lowest point.
Also the trans. pan gaskets have a tendency to wear causing a leak as well as a rear seal... if you cant find it take it to a trans shop and they will add a dye to the fluid ask you to drive a few days and come back so they can put a leak detector black light on the trans. in order to find the leak. This is best done in a shop and on a lift.

Leaking oil from between the engine and gearbox

The distributor is located right atop the trans and engine, it can leak oil and appear to be a main seal leak.

Otherwise, you have a bad crank seal if its oil, and bad trans seal if its trans fluid. In these cases the trans or engine has to be broken apart from one another.

You better hope for a leaky distributor, or even a leaky intake gasket by the distributor.

I have trans fluid out of trans dust shield. Replaced front seal

There is a brass bushing in the trans pump that could be worn. Verify easy things first like trans fluid temp and proper flow to the cooler. Restrictions and heat will cause that front pump seal to leak again.

I changed tranny filter and pan gasket, still leaks, possible inner seal? any suggestions?

need to identify where leak is coming from wipe clean bottom of transmission and check trans lines ,dipstick tube, rear seal ,pan for leak or drip start van and let run drive around block than park and recheck trans for leak if leak by where engine and trans meet than front seal anywhere else fix and or replace front seal two choices first can try a trans leak additive follow instructions carefully or need to pull trans to replace seal

2001 Ford Windstar transmission fluid leak

Sorry!,..More than likely the front seal of the transmission has actually cut a groove into the torque convertor neck.I have seen these hundreds of times, when the van is hot the seal wont hold the fluid pressure behind it and trans fluid will leak past...also the lines/hoses are on the side of this transmission..the vent is located on top of this trans near the main connector,.not in the front(Ax4n).,, seriously go to an accredited trans shop only for this repairATRA......again sorry for the bad new..Bob Stinson
