2005 Ford Escape Rough Idle - engine code state lean fuel mixture

Checked engine codes (via Autozone) and told I have a lean fuel mixture. I have replaced the fuel filter and added good fuel injector cleaner. Still idling rough. Looking for info on how to check fuel pressure, fuel flow, and methods to check fuel pressure regulator. Any other suggestions to look at to correct this is appreciated.

I recommend getting a repair manual from an auto store for your vehicle. They run $15 to $20. It will tell you exactly how to do everything you asked and also give you the values that should be expected. Hope this helps.

Keep getting P0308 code misfire

A misfire code is set because one of three things is missing or not right: spark, gas, or compression. You checked compression and it's good, equal to the other cylinders? And there is spark on #8? That leaves a fuel problem, then. How does the spark plug look on #8- if the appearance is white, almost a blistered look to the bottom of the plug, that is an indication of lean running- not enough gas in the mixture at that cylinder. You may have an injector problem on #8.

Check engine lite on and spratic hesitation and rough idle?

I would inspect for any vaccum hoses first. Also pull out the codes to have an idea.

I replaced head gaskets on 2004 dodge dakota. when started it ran rough and lacked acceleration. Code P0300 and o2 sensors showed. replaced all 4 O2 sensors, but still rough idle and code P0300

That's Random or multiple missfire code. Have you checked for proper fuel pressure? Improper fuel pressure will trigger this code if it's too low, thus causing a lean mixture in multiple cylinders.

Rough idle vibrates and po171 code service engine soon. jamesrowland9@aol.com

Hi, a Ford P0171 is a LEAN code for cylinder bank 1, and P0174 is a LEAN code for cylinder bank 2. These codes commonly occur on many Ford vehicles, and are set when the powertrain control module (PCM) sees the air/fuel mixture is running too lean (too much air, not enough fuel).
When the Check Engine Light comes on, either one of these codes, or both, may be found when a code reader or scan tool is plugged into the vehicle diagnostic connector. IF the vehicle is driven long enough, typically both codes will be set.
A P0171 lean code for bank 1 is the cylinder bank on the RIGHT (passenger) side of the engine on Ford vehicles with a V6 or V8 engine and rear-wheel drive.

A lean fuel condition may exist if the engine is sucking in too much air and/or the fuel system is not delivering enough fuel. If bad enough, a lean fuel condition may cause lean misfire, a rough idle, hesitation or stumble when accelerating, and/or poor engine performance.
Unmetered air can enter the engine through a vacuum leak, a dirty airflow sensor that is not reading airflow accurately, an EGR valve is not closing and is leaking exhaust into the intake manifold, an EGR valve that is allowing too much flow (because the EGR differential pressure sensor that monitors EGR flow is faulty and is under-reporting EGR flow).
If the problem is not enough fuel, the underling cause may be a weak fuel pump, restricted fuel filter, leaky fuel pressure regulator or dirty fuel injectors.

I have a 2004 ford escape with the 3.0 engine. It recently started shaking and running real rough. couldnt go past 40 then finally it died. i can barley get it started and when it does it vibrates real...

You either have a huge engine vacuum leak or the fuel pressure is low, this gives the lean codes you have for bank 1 and 2 of the engine, have these two items checked out.

Ford Escape Models 2005 4WD I would like to know, the light of Emission System is on, What this mean.?

If it's on steady, it means an emissions issue is present. Not a biggie. If flashing, then it's a biggie.
Go to Autozone and have tehm read the failure codes from your computer for free. Then report codes back here.
Remember, sometimes a code is set that is noit caused by the sensor. The sensor is just reporting the porblem. Sometimes it's a basic engine issue, like a lean mixture.

I would try replacing the fuel injector ,now the mechanical code, could be a valve spring, lifter ,or valve problem, but try the injector first.

2003 Ford Expd. running rough @ idle -

There could be many issues. These codes read your engine is running too lean. Check : all your vacuum hoses for leaks, PCV valve and hose, MAF sensor. This may require an experienced technician to figure this out. Hopefully I help'd!!

My 2000 ford expedition idles rough when the outside temp is 65 degrees or colder in the summer there is no problem i have already replaced the idle control valve did not help

so, when the engine is burning a rich mixture, it runs rough. Please take it to an Autozone and ask that they read the ODB messages.

It could be that your idle mixture is too lean. So a fuel system cleaner may be the fix... or a carb cleaner...

Something to get the system to give the engine more fuel on a cool morning.... that will make it better!!-Jim

Diagnostic Codes p0171 bank 1, and p0174 bank 2 (too lean)

Those codes are for the oxygen sensors, lean fuel mixture on both banks. Change them, problem with stalling and rough idle should go away.
