Question about 2001 Chevrolet Impala
I have a 2001 Chevrolet impala w/ approx 110k miles on it. It has rarely ever given any troubles but for a few weeks now on occasion the gears are changing hard. First gear is changing the hardest, 2nd & 3rd are also changing hard but not as hard as first. The service engine soon light is NOT coming on. The transmission fluid is where it should be, my dad put a sensor on it last week & still having the issue. He doesn't think it needs a new transmission since it is not doing it more often. So far it is only doing it once a week & only after the vehicle has been driven about 30 minutes or more. Any suggestions?
Dont listen to this guy never flush your transmission thats a quick way to kill it. do a pan drop fluid filter change. refill with dexron 6. but ill tell u now ur problem is most likely the PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID in your transmission. may or may not throw a CEL. causes harsh shifting and slipping etc very common on the 4t65e trans. can happen any time and usually symptoms most obvious when engine reaches operating temp

You might Try a Tranny Flush and Fill and a New Tranny Filter. Usually a Clogged Filter will cause the Hard Shifting Problem as Stated Above. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!
