Re: wont shift from park
Have you try adjusting the linkage on the transmission and have you checked all of the grounds and and took an 12 volt tested and check out the light switch and there should be a silver box in the fuses box under the dash on the driverside test that also that could be the problem with your turn signal

check make sure brake lights working if not check brake fuse if fuse good you have a faulty brake light switch which allows when you press on brake pedal the brake transmission shift interlock solenoid will allow shift transmission in to out of park.also check brake transmission shift interlock solenoid fuse and transmission neutral safety switch.
check brake transmission shift interlock fuse BTSI. check the NSBU fuse.which is the transmission neutral switch.if all is good check brake light switch.make sure brake lights working if not check fuse.when you apply brake that will energize brake transmission shift interlock solenoid.so you can shift out of park.if brake light switch is okay and fuse good.the brake transmission shift shift interlock solenoid could be faulty.
You have a problem with the shift inter lock when you put the key in the ignition and step on the brake pedal a signal is sent not only to the brake light but also to the shift interlock so the problem can reside in the brake pedal or the shift interlock itself step on the brake pedal see if you ahve brake light if you dont check the fuse for brake lights, for a 1993 there is the engine junction box in thhe engine comparartment and one under the dash also safely with ebrake on turn key on go to the brake pedal do you see the brake switch press it and have some one see if the gear will change.if it does replace the brake switch if it doesnt the shift interlock itself has to be addressed
SOUND LIKE TRANSMISSION BRAKE INTERLOCK SOLENOID IS NOT ENERGIZING.MAKE SURE BRAKE LIGHTS COMING ON WHEN YOU APPLY BRAKE PEDAL.SEE IF BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH MALFUNCTION OR BRAKE LIGHT FUSE BLOWN. THE TRANSMISSION BRAKE INTERLOCK SOLENOID WONT ENERGIZE, WHICH WILL KEEP YOU FROM GETTING CAR OUT OF PARK.MAKE SURE YOU HAVE 12.6 VOLTS AT BATTERY.DEAD BATTERY YOU WONT BE ABLE TO GET CAR OUT OF PARK.CHECK TRANSMISSION BRAKE INTERLOCK SOLENOID FUSE AND CHECK TO MAKE SURE BRAKE LIGHT FUSE IS GOOD AND BRAKE LIGHT FUSE NOT BLOWED.
Check your brake lights to see if they work. The shift interlock works off of the brake light circuit. If the brake lights don't work it could be the brake light fuse, the brake pedal switch. Check fuses #21 and #27 in the fuse panel under the dash.
If the fuses are good and the brake lights work, then the shift interlock solenoid has a problem.
A work-around for this is to turn the key toward the "On" position just enough to unlock the steering wheel, but not far enough to light up the lights in the dash. Then shift the shifter into neutral to start. This will get you to a shop without towing.
Maybe you blew solid state module. There is a manual bypass.
Shift Interlock System
A shift interlock mechanism prevents shifting the transaxle out of the PARK position unless the brake pedal (2455) is applied. The shift lock actuator is energized when the ignition switch is turned to the RUN position.
This locks the shifter in the PARK position.
When the brake pedal is applied and the stoplight switch (13480) is activated, the shift lock actuator is deactivated and the shifter can be moved out of the PARK position.
CHECK BRAKE LIGHTS FUSE.IF FUSE OKAY.BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH IS BAD.VECHICLE NOT SHIFTING OUT OF PARK PROBLEM COULD BE BLOWED FUSE OR CLUTCH PEDAL SWITCH FOR MANUAL TRANSMISSION OR TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR FAULTY AND PROBLEM IN BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH IF FAULTY IT WILL KEEP THE BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID FROM WORKING KEEPING YOU FROM GETTING VECHICLE OUT OF PARK.IF BRAKE SWITCH IS GOOD.PROBLEM IN THE BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID.
There may be a malfunction in the shift interlock sys.
This sys. keeps the shift from being moved from park
unless the brake peddle is depressed. There are 5 fuse's, directly or indirectly related to the interlock system. Fuse #6 15amp in the fuse box under the hood on the left side. The next 4 are in the fuse box
behind the left side of the dash. Fuse #3 15amp/fuse
#18 15amp/fuse #16 20amp and fuse #4 15amp.
Check these first, before you move on to the brake
light switch, under the dash at the brake peddle.
And the shift lock solenoid, under the console left of
the shift lever. Hope this helps.
