could you be more specific as to sensor removal difficulty ? the ABS sensorunit is the sensor pin that fits and protrudes to inside of backplate if rear drum brakes ? and the excitor /toothed ring is part of the rear hub? can i ask ? what problem you have with abs on this wheel as you are removing it ?

This is always extremely difficult as these abs sensors become jammed in the hole after a couple of years, I usually strip everything down around the sensor and smash it out with a hammer and screw driver or centre punch. you will find that the new sensor will go back in easily with a little lubrication.

4 motion no longer in motion drives like a 2 wheel drive

i take it you know that IT IS a front wheel drive car that goes into 4wd when needed.NOT a permanent 4wd (it uses the abs/esp/torson diff computerised drive system).to prove this block the front wheels, jack up the rear of the car and put a brick under a rear wheel, then slowly lower the car until the brick gets thrown backwards.proving that 2 wheels will remain still whilst one is spinning...(this test takes 2/3 people to do it right...BE CAREFULL.

You can try to disconnect the battery for 10 minutes and see if the ABS light clears. If not Autozone or Oreillys may have another scanner to fit the ABS diagnostic socket, a free test.

When you did the rear brakes, the emergency brakes inside the rear rotors can sometimes crumble. Need to clean sensors because dirt and brake debris will keep sensors from counting wheel revolutions.

You could also have a ABS diverter valve stuck and not centered. Sometimes its necessary to rebleed to center the part and clear the light.

ABS brake module sounds like a motor running and won't stop unless battery is disconnected. what is fix?

I would pull the fuse for the ABS hydraulic pump and then put it back in and see what happens. Don't ever recall a pump running. Dealer may need to hook up scan tool for diagnostic fault codes, DTCs.

Principles of Operation
The ABS control module receives wheel speed readings from both front wheel speed sensors and the rear differential speed sensor, and processes this information to determine if an ABS event is necessary. The wheel speed sensor electrically senses each tooth of the ABS sensor indicators as it passes through the wheel speed sensor's magnetic field.
The ABS control module continuously monitors and compares the rotational speed of each wheel speed sensor indicator and, when it detects an impending wheel lock, modulates brake pressure to the appropriate brake caliper(s). This is accomplished by triggering the hydraulic control unit (HCU) to open and close the appropriate solenoid valves. Once the affected wheel returns to normal speed, the ABS control module returns the solenoid valves to their normal position, and normal (base) braking resumes.
The ABS control module is self-monitoring. When the ignition switch is turned to the RUN position, the ABS control module will do a preliminary electrical check, and at approximately 20 km/h (12 mph), the pump motor is turned on for approximately one-half second. Any malfunction of the ABS system will cause the ABS to shut off; normal power assisted braking, however, remains.
Inspection and Verification — Scan Tool Communications Check
  1. Verify the customer concern by carrying out the Drive Cycle Test.
  1. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage.

  • Parking brake cable
  • Tire pressure
  • Tire size or mismatched tires
  • Blown fuse
  • Central junction box (CJB):

  • Battery junction box

  • Front anti-lock brake sensor (2C204)
  • Front anti-lock brake sensor indicator (2C182)
  • Hydraulic control unit (2C219)
  • Rear anti-lock brake sensor (2C190)
  • Rear anti-lock brake sensor indicator (2C189)
  • Yellow ABS warning indicator

Abs light on. 2000 mustang gt

One or both rear wheels speed sensors are malfunctioning even they dont show noticeable physical damage. Get a scanner that can display rear wheels speed values and drive the car to see which one is not working correctly.

It sound like ABS break sensor is out. most likely would be in the rear sensors or simply you need break pads.

Check brake fluid level first and foremost- top off as necessary.

1. Start with checking if sensor was reconnected - sometimes they will not seat properly. - were the sensor wires damaged during/after install.

2. Now in all VAG products I have owned with ABS the manual states that you need to perform a raod teat with at least 1 ABS event i.e. go on a gravel road or grassy area or if its icy/snowy just hit the breaks. This should set the ABS for normal operation.

The fact that you have an ABS light on tells me that you have a connector/sensor problem.

Hope this helps.

I have the same problem (along with traction light on).

Both of my rear brake lights are out - It seems that it might be the Brake Light Switch - which is above the brake pedal.

Got to check this tomorrow.
