Question about 1985 Chevrolet Corvette

Inop hood latch 1985 corvette

When I pull the hood latch only the passenger side of the hood is released. I can't get the other side to release. I can't get my hood open to check oil or anything else. Is there some way to get it open?

You need a hood latch release tool to open a 1985 corvettes hood. The screwdriver advice was useless, but thanks anyway. The tool cost 20 bucks and was well worth it!

In the windshield wiper area on both sides of the car you will see a rubber plug about 1 inch in diameter. Use a flatblade screw driver (about 8-10 inches) and poke this plug out of its hole into the engine compartment (you can recover it later.) Insert your screwdriver through the hole until you find the release latch. Just push it until it releases.

How do I open the hood on a 1987 corvette when the hood latch doesn't work

I think that the outer cable is loose from the clip. you will have top devise a way of coming up in front of the ac condenser to push the latch sideways as some one pushes down on the bonnet to release the latch

1999 Audi Quatro A6 hood release is not working. How can I open my hood?

Under the car:
You will be able to open the hood if you pull off your splash guard and use a long long flat head screwdriver or something like that. You'll see the hood latch in front of the radiator with the cable attached to it at the top near the hood, put it on the drivers side edge of the bottom of the latch and pry to the passenger side, the lever moves from the drivers side to the passengers side, the cable basically pulls the top of it to achieve this. so your doing the same thing on the bottom with the screwdriver.

Release the latch from underneath by the lever that you have to pry towards the passenger side. Then open the hood, and replace the safety release mechanism broken cable.

Please do rate my response. Thanks!

Release the latch from underneath by the lever that you have to pry towards the passenger side. Then open the hood, and repair or replace the safety release mechanism. This is very simple to remove out from the hood.

1985 corvette, pulled the hood release and the diverside opened but not the passengers side so now i can't open the hood, how do i release the passenger side that is stuck

have someone push down on that part of the hood while you pull the release. Usually that frees it and it should be adjusted up so it will open again

Passenger side hood will not release

Hood latch on passenger side needs adjusting, Have someone put pressure on side of hood when
you are pushing the hood latch release.
This may help them when they are pulling up on the hood.

u can remove side body panel in front of door or by tool call 18003983883 to order for 20 bucks but first have someone push and pull on hood while u pull release then replace cable its common for them to stretch and/or the clip-to-lever assembly to break

Hood release

I had the same problem with WD-40 and man power I over came it. Chances are your latch is rusting / corroded or gummed up. What I did was to lift the passenger side up a little not to much or you will bend the hood, follow the bar as far as you can and spray the release with WD-40. Have someone pull the cable and try moving the release bar on the passengers side back and forth. It may take a little doing but it should eventually release. You know the cable isn't broken because it does release the passengers side, when you finally get the hood open make sure you spray down all three of the latches.
