I had a simular problem with another ford, its problem was the fuel pump didnot have enough fuel pressure, fords donot like to run out of fuel (they use it for lubrication) if you can instal an acc. fuel pump to test if it is the problem

Hi I'm hoping someone can help me, I've just bought a renault megane 53 plate 1.6 vvt 16v. I bought it knowing that it needed a crank sensor as the person I bought it off had it plugged into a diagnostic...

If it still needs the crank sensor replaced! These are the symptoms you described, the crank sensor controls the timing....the un burnt fuel and rough idling are because the timing is out! Replace the crank sensor as soon as possible....you will cause more damage by continuing to use it like that!

My Jeep keeps cutting out at any random moment,

you may need a new fuel filter, also check the fuel pump.if there are no codes then its probably the filter.

53 plate x type/ starts fine but when trying to

u don't say how many miles or ur maintenance schedule but most likely and cheapest is the fuel filters - check with the factory for location they will tell u on the phone - take down the VIN # and call the local dealer and also ask if any factory recalls are in effect or even out of date for a heads up

Nissan sentra keeps shutting off while driving

~lopez:
I had similar problems after getting my ECU replaced.
later i got a letter from nissan saying it was the wrong program they flashed on the ECU (think it was a maxima ECU they flashed into my sentra)
it only seemed to do it right after my car warmed up while i was slowing down (for a stop) but never cut out when i was at a complete stop.

you can call nissan to see if there are any recalls or updates for your ECU program (they should be free if there is)

if that does not work, or it cuts off while accelerating, try checking your fuel/air ratio, spark plugs, air filter, and fuel injectors. (a fuel filter can even cause cut-outs as well if it's seriously clogged, but it's usually hard to start as well)

~guest:
kinda sounds like heat problems, check to make sure your temp gauge is working and see if this helps...
- when it cuts out on you, turn key all the way off, then turn it back to full on (but don't crank) this should let you rad. fan run without cranking your car. if this causes the wait time to be shorter before you can crank it again (less than an hour) then it's most likely a temp gauge, water pump, hose or even a belt.

Car cuts of after 20-45 minutes of driving

sounds like clogged fuel filter or even clogged catalic converter. filter costs under 10 bucks, converter, i don't know, it's a bit more but there is a test a mechanic can do called a back pressure test.
