My 1.4ecotec astra is leaking oil out of oilcap when its closed what cud the cause be

Possibly the seal/gasket on the oil cap is defective. You can try replacing the cap to see if it corrects the problem. You may also have excessive internal pressure within the motor due to an improper functioning PCV system. Inspect/replace the PCV and related hoses for proper operation

I have a 93 Plymouth voyager and it's always had an oil leak but I recently moved now I'm putting a gallon of oil a day in it. Sometimes it blows the oil cap off. What do I do?

If it blows the oil cap off the pcv system isn't working/plugged. If it is a 3lt 6 cyl, chances are the cam and crank seals are leaking along with cam plugs on thh side of the cyl heads

Why is it blowing off oil cap

Too much crankcase pressure for some reason? I've seen a melted piston cause so much crankcase pressure, it blew the pcv valve out of the valve cover and sprayed oil all over the engine compartment.

Is your oil cap threaded? If it is threaded, I don't think I've seen one of them blow off? Also, check crankcase ventilation system, pcv where applicable. Do you have a lot of blow-by from crankcase? I don't know your year--make--model or engine size?

Bmw 318i oil leak

make sure that the filler cap seal is in place and not gone hard over time also has the rocker cover been off at some stage if it has check that the gasket has not moved the other thing to look out for is that the PCV (breather )valve is in good working order if it is damaged the sump compression will rise and push oil out

While driving, oil cap came off while driving, engine immediatly stopped, replaced oil, replaced cap ,engine still wont turn over...

Just some ideas. Your details a bit vague. How long did you drive without oil in engine? How far? etc etc
I would definitely replace PCV valve, but also get the engine checked so you do not take the chance of anything worse happen than there is.

as long as you copped it and did not run engine without oil should be okay top up to proper level put cap on should be okay
oil will blow out cap removed normal
Just a few links ans.Best Answer - Chosen by AskerI blew my oil cap off once when i had a bad PCV valve and did not hear it at all. luckily it fell in a place where it stayed while i was driving. If you blew the cap off and enough oil escaped you would loose oil pressure and blow your engine, and I doubt the shop had anything to do with it.

just one comment, but others may be of help:
Docnick commenter-5000.pngJanuary 2008You probably have something very nasty going on. Just leaving the cap off will not spray oil all over your engine compartment. The fact there was little oil left in the crankcase proves it was forced out by severe pressure in the crankcase. This can be cause by a plugged PCV sytem, or more likely severe blowby, where combustion gasses blow the oil out of the crakcase and up to the valve covers. This could be cause by broken rings or severe wear.
I would not drive the car, have it towed to a good mechanic who can do compression tests and other inspections to determine the problem.
If you have severe blowby, an engine swap might be your best course of action, but find out first what the problem is.

Of course, there are a lot more you can read....just a few to help you out.Praying it is not something serious for you.
God Bless
