Question about 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Have a 79 chevy scottsdale 4x4. after starting and at idle evrythings ok.as soon as i give it gas generator light comes on.altinator and battery are fine.any takers?
I've got a '79 scottsdale 4x4 myself actually.. the best thing you can do is go buy a cheap voltage meter.. remember the wiring/connections are 30 years old.. so bad wires/connections/gauges/sensors could be all over the place..
for example, my voltage gauge would barely move out of the orange when i got it, i rewired the vitals and it still only reads 13v max, however, when i hook up a voltage meter to the hot alt wire, it reads over 14v..
remember.. old wires=resistance/heat=voltage loss.. this could easily account for a sensor triggering even with a fresh battery and alt
