Question about 2000 GMC Yukon XL

1 Answer

Misfire My 2000 Yukon XL sputters when i accelerate. Yesterday I replaced the 01/02 sensors and it ran fine for awhile then it started the same thing. Now it won't go over 25 mph and it tries to backfire. I am about to go replace the spark plugs and wires and also the fuel filter, would you suggest doing or checking anything else?

This sounds like it may be as simple as cleaning the water or gunk out of the gas tank which is what I always do 1st because it's easy and inexpensive.
If your fuel is contaminated with gunk, grime, water and/or bottom junk like rust this will cause stalling!

Fill the tank with High Test, Add some dry gas and a good fuel system cleaner or 2 or 3 and this should dissolve all the gunk and clean the injectors! Read & follow the cans' instruction carefully.
If this cures the problem never let your gas tank get below 1/4 and especially never run it to empty as this is when the gunk and/or water will enter the system!
Hope this helps!
Good Luck!

Engine light bank 1 and bank 2. Multiple misfire. I took car to have an oil change, let sevice tech talk me into getting fuel injection cleaned car been running bad every since, sputtering.

Dear Sputtering Misfire........okay....so...here's how it goes. The "fuel induction service" that was performed was performed properly.....but not completed....this is when they introduce a topend chemical that knocks off all the carbon from the valves and upper piston area etc...the vehicle's fuel curve becomes temporarily disrupted resulting in poor fuel burn and misfire symptoms. After the chemical is introduced through the intake system the vehicle should be ran at a higher rpm to remove all carbon deposits if any are left over after the service. When this last stage isn't performed then the vehicle has the symptoms that you are experiencing. This will go away.....it may take up to 60 miles of driving.....the engine light will not go off until it is physically reset by a technician or your battery cable is removed and replaced after a minute.....please get back to me if you need any more help... I HOPE I COULD HELP!!!

2000 Ford Windstar 3.8L error P0401 then P0404

if the check engine light is blinking, you have a misfire(spark plugs, plug wires or coil pack.inspect the plug wires for damage. The rear bank plug wires (at the fire wall) get alot of heat and the boots will crack, causing a misfire. You might want to have your local shop check it for you,to see if there is an open circuit or shorting in one or more of the plug wires.if it has been awhile since a tune-up,you might want to do that first, and inspect the plug wire boots also and replace them if needed.

Stalled twice while towing at 65 mph. sputtered

If the scan will narrow down which o2 sensor it is and replace it. If it has more than one on that year that is. Under load you will probable have a richer fuel mix. If the sensor is going going bad it may only get out of spec reading under heavy load and warmer temps. I have had similar issues with GM and it was easily fixed.
