2000 A6 4.2 - climate control lights flicker

I own a 2006 A6 4.2. The climate control unit is still working, however all of the lights (defrost, all the vent lights) continue to flicker all the time. I thought it may be due to the incredible cold weather we are having in Toronto, however today it warmed up and its still doing it. Any suggestions or solutions. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the help. The lights stayed flicking for about 4 days, and this morning I started the car and it has fixed it's self!

Ok looks like it is temp dependent -- in most cases you will probably need a new display or have to get yours reconditioned . what normally happens is that the lcd ribbon cable gets a bit loose -between the lcd and the pcb and this causes intermittent faults . also next time it plays up try heating it up with probably a hair dryer-just be a bit careful.this will probably confirm if it is due to temp---or it could be just dry joints ---try tapping it and see if it comes good

possible heater control unit failure as this system has a hot/cold blend door actuator and a separate defrost floor blend door actuator so default setting is defrost for that actuator but not hot setting so controller fault is most likely

Passenger side knobs not working on climate control unit

All 3 are possible problems. A fuse is most likely the problem unless something got spilled leaked its way into the unit. Check all the fuses with a test light first before you try and replace the unit

2000 durango cooling system fan running non-stop

Many engine control system faults can cause the radiator cooling fan to come on and run non-stop. Also, if your A/C is on or if you have your heating and cooling controls in DEFROST mode, this can cause the radiator cooling fan to come on (normal operation). Or there could be a cooling fan circuit malfunction (like a stuck relay) causing this to happen.

Check to see what mode your climate controls are in. If the climate controls are not in A/C or DEFROST modes, then you should have your engine control system properly diagnosed to determine the cause of the radiator fan being on continuously.

Also, if the Check Engine light is on, this is a clue that the engine control system is malfunctioning.
