Question about 1997 Plymouth Grand Voyager

1 Answer

96 Plymouth Grand Voyager

I am beginning to hate this van!!! It runs fine for a little while but then will not go over 45 and the exhaust pipe will get cherry red. Then it will suddenly clear up again! The spark plugs, fuel filter, and coil pack were just changed. Can anyone tell me what is wrong?

My friend checked the codes and it said "coil pack primary/secondary circuit failure but it got worse when we changed the coil pack.

It is an emissions problem. Or sensor problem. Take it for a trouble code scan at Autozone or similar store . They will do a scan for free. You may need to replace the catalytic converter. That cherry red pipe sounds serious.it should not be like that at all.

I need to know what the pipe is called that the lower rad hose hooks up to on the 1998 plymouth grand voyager mini van 3.0L, 3 speed automatic ?

if you follow the pipe does it go towards the transmission ? if so it's for the trans cooler. If not it will be the escape hose incase of overheating/to much pressure in the coolant system , if you go to a parts retailer like autozone they will have the part named on their data system , its a bit difficult without seeing vehicle to name parts . although you have given a good description, the lower rad hose carries cooled coolant so i would think it's the trans cooler but check at autozone or similar

I have the same problem as jbdnmos

I still don't know what engine is in this van It can be a 2.4 (4 cylinder ) , a 3.0 ( 6 cylinder ) , and a 3.3 ( different maker 6 cylinder ) the engine trans mission systems are made by different manufactures and without this information it's like telling me car is the blue one. you know the problems that happen to the blue ones. Sounds like the exhaust is stopped up

Emergency brake stuck on 96 plymouth grand voyager

usually if you grab the e brake cable just in front of the rear wheel and shake the hell out of it on each side of the van it will let go. later you should fix the problem because it will only get worse.
