i have the same prob my battery went dead and now mr radio wont come on and the dealer is no help

My radio display started having random periods of scrambled LCDs blinking off and on, and the radio cutting out, going dead. The clock too. At first when the radio would come back, the settings would still be in memory. Now, it looses all memory of the radio channel settings. The clock also goes off and re-sets when it comes back.

Then one morning when I started the engine, all the lights on the dash and radio were on at the same time, and stayed on. I turned the engine off and on again and the dash board went back to normal.

A friend of mine with a Chrysler version of the Dodge Grand Caravan SE same year started having problems with his radio before I did. He found out that if you pull the fuse marked IOD (15 A) that sometimes it solves a similar problem. I tried it but it didn't work.

Then my new battery was drained one morning. AAA came out and said the battery and the charger were well, but that I was drawing too much current just sitting there with everything off. When I first turn the engine off, even with headlamps and radio and AC all off, the battery current sits at 1 Amp. Then after a few seconds it drops to 0.25 Amps. Then sitting there it seems to jump up to .400 Amps back to .25, up again, down again. Might explain draining the battery over night.

I pulled the 15 Amp IOD fuse and the battery current dropped to 0.1 amp. Without the fuse, the remote entry does not work, but the AC fan stays off (No AC at all now). The interior lights do not come on when I open the doors. But once the engine is on they are present. Otherwise things seem normal.

Even so, starting in the morning is taking significantly longer cranking than normal. Before I replaced the battery, the engine would crank right up and start. Before the battery died the first time, the last few days it started to take longer to start. It is still taking longer to start.

Apparently the battery was allowed to lose voltage, ( so I was told ). The radiop does not work now and no one seems to be able to find the right code...Who does one turn too?

2001 dodge grand caravan sport.Grandkids left light on and killed Battery. Jumped the van got it started notice this morning going to work my Radio and speedometer isnt working.Checked fuses but none...

Make sure to check the engine compartment fuses and the inside fusebox, if all the fuses look good then try to unhook the battery and then connect it back on and start the van and see if this helps. the radio is it asking for a code, if this radio has antitheft then you will need to install the code to make it work, look at manual and it will tell you how to do this. the code is entered using the preset staition buttons, there should be a card in the glovebox with the radio code if it has antitheft. if you find no bad fuses then you may have short out the cluster jumping it, but most of the time it just needs a fuse or reseting by removing neg battery terminal for about 2min, good day let me know the outcome.

The radio in my dodge grand caravan 2007 has quit

Your best bet might be to go to and find a salvage yard in your area with a used radio.

Radio stopped working, won't turn on

There are 2 power supplies for the radio, one constant, one ignition switched. If either one is out then the radio will not work. Did anything else quit working at the same time? In all probabilities the radio is dead and you will need to replace it.

Battery replaced on 2001 grand dodge caravan now radio dont work

U will need to enter the radio anti theft code, this lock out was triggered by the loss of voltage to the radio during the battery change, this code is unique to each radio and cam in the owners information packet when the cat was sold new.

Dodge radio starts then shuts off

Hi Davis,

I had the same problem with Dodge Grand Caravan as well. I have a 2001 GCV and these radios go out all the time, plus each speaker has separate amps which some speaker will stop working. You will need a new stereo, however the dealership will charge you over $350 for the same replacement. I chose to go to BestBuy and buy a new Stereo for around $100 which has iPod connections which is a plus.
Next problem!!! Since each speaker has its own amp, in order to get the new stereo to work, I had to install a relay by tapping into the passenger side kicker panel master amp power supply to bypass the chip. Best Buy guy will know what to do. I suggest install the stereo yourself with a kit and go back to install an amp bypass relay switch. Hope that helps.

Stock Stereos **** and Dodge make is difficult to go aftermarket.....Good Luck

2001 Grand Caravan Radio Stopped working

Chances are the radio has an internl issue and requires replacement. The EQ draws power and inputs from the radio. A radio exchange is an easy process if you decide to put the sme radio back into your vehicle. Contact me if you need direction.

Cruise Control, Steering Wheel Radio Buttons, Overhead Console

it sounds like you got 2 problems...the cruise and radio buttons sound like a bad clockspring......the overhead console problem sounds like a bad ambient temp sensor located behind the grill. if it is too cold out the ac will not run
