Question about 1998 Ford Explorer

Ignition turns and key warning light comes on. Its a 98 Ford Expl

The ignition key will turn but the engine wont kick over, not even clicks for a dead battery. On the dash a red key warning symbol comes on and bipping sounds.

    Sounds like the snti-theft is activated.Do you have another key you can try?

A SURE-SHOT way Is to Jumper Wire From Battery to (STARTER SIDE) of Relay if starter Works then Its the Starter Relay if NOT>>Then Its the STARTER<) Relay Instruction Below. STARTER Instructions Very Bottom
REMOVAL
WARNING: WHEN PERFORMING MAINTENANCE ON THE STARTING SYSTEM BE AWARE THAT HEAVY GAUGE LEADS ARE CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO THE BATTERY. MAKE SURE PROTECTIVE CAPS ARE IN PLACE.

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
    1. Disconnect the starter motor solenoid relay switch wiring.
    1. Remove the protective cover.
    2. Disconnect the push-on electrical connector.
    3. Remove the nuts.
    4. Remove the cable.
      1. Remove the starter motor solenoid relay switch.
      1. Remove the engine sensor/generator wires.
      2. Remove the bolts and ground wire.
      3. Remove the starter motor solenoid relay switch.
      INSTALLATION
    5. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
REMOVAL

    1. Disconnect the starter wires.
    1. Remove the nuts.
    2. Disconnect the wires.Remove the nut and the starter ground cable
    3. Remove the bolt and the starter motor.
      1. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order. NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.

2003 gmc savanna, wont start, new fuel pump and ignition cylinder, I turned key to on position, let sit for 15 min and still wont start just turns over


Find fuel test valve in fuel rail on top of engine. Take cap off valve. Turn key on. Push down valve with screw driver. fuel should squirt out. If not check fuse fuel pressure relay and bad wires. If fuel does come out, remove a spark plug from engine. Connect plug wire to plug. Ground plug against engine. Crank over engine and look for spark.

TRY ANOTHER KEY YOUR VECHICLE SHOULD HAVE 2 PROGRAM KEYS. TRY THE OTHER KEY.PUT IN IGNITION.TURN ON IGNITION SWITCH FOR 10 SECONDS UNTIL IMMOBILIZER WARNING LAMP BEGIN TO FLASH AN ACOUSTIC SIGNAL IS EMITTED.SWITCH OFF THE IGNITION SWITCH.IF THIS PROCEDURE DONT WORK.TURN KEY ON IN THE IGNITION FOR 60 SECONDS.UNTIL IMMOBILIZER WARNING LAMP FLASHES AND ACOUSTIC SIGNAL IS EMITTED. THEN TURN OFF IGNITION SWITCH.

check your battery for cold crank AMPS if battery is fine check positiv cabel from battery to alternator they are common problem on this vehicles

95 F150 wont crank


the starter should be replaced. The solenoid is kikcing the pinion out but there is no contact being made to turn the starter motor. I have the exact same truck and before i changed the starter used the old starter tap trick. Tap the starter casing with a hammer and it should start turning again. hope this was helpful for you. Warning bell does not turn off


Probable bad switch, whether it's the ignition switch or light switch or other I'm not sure. I'd start by checking TSB's (Technical Service Bulletins) through Saturn; they shouldn't charge you to check their database for this problem. I know GM had the same problem. May also be the control module that interfaces all of these various warning systems with the main computer. Referred to a "body control module" or something similar.
