No start on 93 olds bravada without starter fluid , i did a fuel pressure test idle was good but when i switched ignition off the presure went straight to 10 psi from about 60 psi , i suspect a bad c

Internal pressure regulator on the fuel pump should hold for about a minute but some pressure loss is normal. However, on initial start-up, the pressure must be at operating pressure or the system wont work. I suspect the fuel pump is failing, it is an all too common problem for GM trucks and SUVs with mpfi fuel injection.
IACs do not go out very often, usually there is a problem with vacuum leaks, dirty throttle assemblies.

2001 sebring conv 2.7 low fuel pressure where is the fuel pressure regulator location

hi, normally the FUEL PUMP, FUEL FILTER , FUEL REGULATOR at the back under the car near the front of the FUEL TANK. the FUEL FILTER HAS A ARROW and must go FROM THE TANK TO THE ENGINE. if you put it the WRONG WAY AROUND the car will NOT RUN PROPERLY. THE FUEL REGULATOR HAS A SPRING LOADED VALVE AND RETURN PIPE to the tank. THE FUEL PUMP HAS A ARROW TOO. from the tank to the engine. gerry

It starts when I used fuel starting spray, then it quit when the starting fuel is gone.

Bad Fuse, pump relay,Fuel filter, weak fuel pump, pluged fuel filter in the tank.bad pressure regulator, check to see if the pump runs in the tank.you should here it run while you crank the engine. if you can then check the filter.it should be open, not restricted.then check fuel pressure,at the fuel rail, with a guage 36 to 40psi is normal. Any less pressure will give poor performance.Check to see if the pressure regulator is or has ben leaking gas into the vacumn line to the intake manifold,if you can see smell,or detect any raw gas i would suspect a faulty pressure regulator. And it may be returning the fuel pressure back to the tank instead of controlling the fuel pressure to run the engine.

My fuel pressure is not holding how do i know if it's my fuel pressure regulator or fuel pump

MEASURE FUEL PUMP PRESSURE AT FUEL FILTER CONNECTOR. ATTACH PRESSURE GUAGE TO FITTING COMING FROM TANK. MAKE SURE THER ARE NO LEAKS FIRST THEN HAVE SOMEONT TURN THE IGNITION ON CK. GUAGE PRESSURE TURN KEY OFF PRESSURE SHOULD REMAIN CONSTANT SINCE PUMP IS DEAD HEADED ( NO RELIEF/ REGULATOR) IF PRESSURE FALLS ,PUMP INNER CK VALVE IS LEAKING. IF PRESSURE DOES NOT FALL THEN SUSPECT REGULATOR

I have a 98 bravada, it will start and run for about 3 seconds then die

Check for correct fuel pressure. Connect pressure guage to schrader valve on fuel rail. Turn key to ON position without starting engine. Fuel pressure should be between 55 and 61 PSI. If it is too low, replace fuel pump in tank and fuel filter.

Guages on 87 olds cutlass are not working properly. fuel does not work, temperature works but goes strainght to hot as soon as the car warms up, amp gueage discharging oil pressure not working

Hi, you will have to replace all sending units for these gauges in order to restore them to there original state. i will list the sending units and there respective locations below.

1. Fuel gauge sending unit- you will need to replace the fuel sending unit on your Olds. its located inside the actual fuel tank. there's a floater attached to this Assembly and , its broken. you will have to replace the entire assembly. you will also have to drop the fuel tank to access it as well.

2. Temp guage-- normally when this guage starts to malfunction, its because of a bad coolant temperature sensor. Inspect the sensor's wires and connections. ECT (engine coolant temperature) sensor problems are often caused by faulty wiring or loose or corroded connections rather than the failure of the sensor itself. If the wires or connections are bad, replace them. If you think the sensor is defective, it should be tested.

This sensor is located Under hood, center, upper engine area, front of carburetor, passenger side of water outlet, mounted in intake manifold.

3. Amp gauge --- OK, this can be caused by a bad voltage regulator. i would also trace every single wire from the amp gauge to the sensor and regulator. check for corroded connectors and contact clips. replace any wire that may seem worn.

4. Oil pressure gauge-- This gauge will malfunction if the Oil pressure switch is faulty or not working. This is an Information relay unit for the indicator light or gauge on instrument panel. It contains a diaphragm that responds to changes in oil pressure. When the oil level is over a pre-set limit, the diaphragm opens the switch, turning off the light. When level is below the pre-set limit, the dash light comes on. In later model cars, if the oil pressure drops, the switch turns off the fuel pump, to stop the engine and limit damage to internal parts. Oil pressure switches can be grouped into two categories, units for electrical gauges and for mechanical gauges. If this switch is defective, it will have to be replaced. Once replaced, it will fix the dead oil gauge.

This device is located Under the hood, passenger side, front engine area, mounted rear of water pump. If the wires are worn or there is an oil leak near the switch location, replace it.

Inspecting all the above areas and replacing parts if needed, will fix your gauge issues.

Please rate and god bless:)

How do I change out the fuel pump in 1991 olds bravada

Disconnect and remove battery, than open gas tank cap, remove cap and to relieve tank pressure. From underneath the car, remove electrical plug-ins and gas lines. Now remove filler tube end from tank. Now place tranny jack or have a helper drop the tank.
Once tank is on the ground and away from vehicle, use a BRASS PUNCH ONLY! and a hammer and knock the metal ring counter clockwise until it is free. Now you can pull out pump for replacement.
Reverse procedure to re-install.

there is a fuel pressure regulator on the back of your injectors, change it, its a 13 dollar part, after you do that, buy a fuel pressure guage, hook up the pressure guage, turn the key to on possition, prime the like a couple times like you would do with a new pump, check the pressure it should be any where from 58 LBS to 62 lbs of pressure in the like, if its any lower the 58, you need to change your pump, with out 58 lbs of pressure the injectors dont get the correct pressure in each purge, hence the crank with no start.. you seem to know enought about pressure n stuff like that so u should get it
