Question about 1997 Oldsmobile Achieva

1 Answer

Won't Start I have a '97 achieva that won't start. Here is the break down of the problem that got it there. When we bought it the man told us it my need a radiator. So after driving for some time it started to overheat. Then the battery stop charging so some times when we were out the car wouldn?t start without a jump or we would have to wait or play with the cable to the battery. So one day it was hard to start when it did get started it stopped because it ran out of gas. We pushed it back in the yard. That was about 5 months ago. So just yesterday we got a new battery all the lights come on good the radio plays etc. We put in a new radiator on yesterday also and it still didn?t start the man that was working on it said it was the Starter. Today we put a new Starter on and it still won?t start. When you turn the key it try to start just a little and then when you try and do it again it just make a click sound. It seems like it could start but it just click at the end. It also seem like something is pulling the battery cause the lights flick off when we try to start. Please help with what could be the problem.

sorry I didn"t go into detail.just try this first.take a jumper cable connect it to the negative then to a bracket on the engine see if that helps out at all for power.if it does change your ground cable, everybody forgets that it also corrodes.

I own a 97 mercury villager an just won't start

I have a 98 model.
Someone will have to figure out if you are dealing with a no spark or no fuel problem when it won't start.
Could be a long list of causes depending on which issue.

Have an Oldsmobile 1997 Achieva security light stays on and won't everyhing but still won't start , would like to know would the Pro VATS Full Bypass work on it.

If the security light is on, then you have a failed antitheft system. This light is only for this. If you bypass the system, your car will work perfectly again.
