www.fordf150.net > ... > 2004 - 2008 Ford F-150 Oct 22, 2009 - I jumped into my 04 FX4 today and when i started to back up a loud pop.... in there, might go with some Lucas Trasmission Fix, but Im not sure yet if you hear... Would take nearly 10 seconds for truck to shift from 1st to reverse.
First would check the tran. fuild level to see if your fuild is low. Then i would recommend getting a trans. flush. This will improve your trans. greatly allowing the transmission to last a lot longer then it would if not having it ever done.
the only way to actually check that torque conv. is to take it out... i have seen a bunch that have stripped out splines inside the converter, or a broken pump shaft... if the fluid is not OVERfull on the dipstick i would say its probably the converter. hope this helps and good luck
one of 2 things. 1 the reverse gear is out on transmission or 2, the trasmissions on chrysler are bad about computer module in transmission going bad. either way you are looking at a transmission rebuild. i use to have alot of plymouths and dodge taxi cars and a rebuild was usually 1500.00 you can get a good low mileage trasmission from a auto salvage for alot less.
