Question about 2000 Ford Taurus

1 Answer

200 Raurus won't start without a jump.

Replaced battery because it was tested and found not to hole a charge. Only the dash lights light when trying to start it without a jump. I thinking starter is probably bad bacuase it needs the extra boost to start.

Hi

Well if you are sure the new battery is 1OO%...... the starter does look the cause.

Might just be worth while just checking all the battery, earth, starter and solenoid terminals first, before renewing the starter motor.

Good Luck!

A FixYa rating would greatly be appreciated Thank-you !

John.

I HAVE A 2003 KIA SPECTRA THAT IS NOT CHARGING, THE ALTERNATOR CHECKS OUT GOOD ON TESTER BUT REPLACED IT ANYWAY AND STILL NOT CHARGING. CAN ANYBODY HELP ME WITH THIS ISSUE.

if the alt is working then there may be a draw on the electrcal system when the key is off ,and pulling the charge out of your battery in time,a good way to ck. this is to first unplug the underhood light then unhook the positive battery c able use a 12v.test light between the battery and the unhooked cable if the light is on there is a draw go to the fuse pannels (under hood &under dash)pull one fuse at a time till the test light shuts off, that is the curcut with the draw, then look for shorts ,no ground and ect.

Reversed polarity on jump start. now wont go into gear or hold charge

OLder cars YEs you can jump it without a battery. But in newer cars that use computers and advanced Eltronic ignition/timing/ful injection you have to have power to the cars computer. without a good battery the car will not run.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our 2002 alero won't turn over /start with key but starts by jumping. Test shows battery and fuses OK

Look for a light that says SECURITY or ANTITHEFT on the dash. This light could cause this problem. Explained on this link.

2001 mercury sable will run but won't charge and no batttery indicator light in dash will not light

If it runs you have one of 2 issues. 1. The battery is bad and the alternator isn't able to keep it charged (you will have to jump start it every time the motor is shut off). 2. Your alternator is bad and the battery is running the car (when battery is drained car will stop running) which is my belief as the battery light only comes on when the alternator isnt charging. Have the charging system tested at your local AutoZone/Advanced Auto parts store they normally do it for free.

it sounds like you have blown fuse to the Alternator.. I don't know what car you are talking about but they charging systems vary.. But if alternator isn't getting all the power it needs it won't charge. this should be checked.

good luck

You dont need a computer. You need a new Body Control Module. Located under the center console but forward towards the dash. A very common problem with these cars. NOT A USED ONE....A NEW ONE. They are VIN specific.

Sounds like your battery is tired and isn't holding charge as deeply as it did. As batteries get older they don't charge as deep into plates. Your reading of 12.6 is just surface reading. Have local parts store load test it -- they do it for free
