Check for the transmission setting ( around the shifter area "S and W"). Select switch to S. W is only used on wet or snow condition.

SOURCE: do I need to change the gearbox oil? if so after

Every 50,000 miles is a good bench mark. Mercedes recommends a specific oil for your transmission.

I suggest you visit you local dealer and either have them do the job, or supply you with the oil and filter to do it yourself.

You will need to measure how much fluid is removed to refill. The torque convertor needs drained to and needs a ( #40 ?. ) Torx to undo the drain plug.

Total dry fill is 8.5 Quarts US. You will be able to drain around 7 Quarts if you drain the torque converter or about 3 Quarts if you only drain the pan.

I usually recommend 30,000 to 40 ,000 mile intervals if the vehicle is frequently city driven or a grocery getter. If it is a mostly highway driven vehicle, then 50,000 miles. .

How to check oil on mercedes c200 2008 model

Hi,make shore the car is on level ground, best to do this from cold, you pull the oil dip stick out and clean the oil off the end of the dip stick, you will see marks on the dipstick you wont the level to be just below the top mark,
so put the dip stick all the way back into the tube where the dip stick came out of then check to see if the level is ok,best to check a couple of times untill you are happy with the readings, when you are happy that the oil is correct replace dipstic job done.
all the best.

Oil change on a c200 diesel how do you know when its full no dipstick model.

to check the oil level in the vehicle you do it through the instrument cluster. from the mileage screen just scroll through with the arrow up or down button on the steering wheel til you get to the check oil level screen. It will say if the oil level is good, low or high and by how much.

There is a special additive lubricant for gear transmission to solve this problem. Just add on to gear oil. I had the same problem. now ok.
