When ever I take this van on the freeway at speeds of 100 km/h or more the o/d light begins to flash on and off. It will only stop flashing when the car is restarted. The transmission was recently rebuilt at 100,000 km. What does this blinking light mean and how can i fix it? Is this van a lemon? Are all newer cars built to break after the warranty expires or is that just ford?

Windstar vans don't use a timing belt.
The speed sensor in the transmission could cause the speedo not to work, but the slipping problems may be clutches or solenoids.
Have you checked the engine computer for trouble codes ?
most likely plugs or wires (Do both at the same time best bet) Your engine has a certain load a certain speeds, if your ignition system (plugs + wires) arent up to snuff, they will misfire at certain speeds only. I would recomend it 1st, other than that there are a couple of things that do it, but that is most likely. Shop around for ignition parts dilligently, its a very cutthroat market and prices vary greatly, make sure you only buy platinum plugs or better.
