Question about 1999 Ford Explorer
My door ajar light kept coming on like my door wasn't shut. But once I opened and shut the door while I was driving and relocked the doors the light went off. I pushed the lock back with my fingers and locked it . Now I can't get it to open, so I can close my door.
Hello and welcome to FIXYA, it sounds like you have two problems, first the door ajar switches in your truck are sticking, and causing the ajar light to remain on, and second the door lock actuator is shorted and getting stuck in the lock position. To repair the switches, obtain a can of brake cleaner and spray the door latch of each door for about 3 to 5 seconds, then open and close the door 10 times to work the cleaner into the switches. To fix the lock problem, you must first pull up on the knob in the door panel to unlock it. Then remove the door panel, and replace the door lock actuator.
