1998 Lincoln Town Car Windows Won't Roll Down..

Control in drivers door and in individual doors don't work on 3 out of 4 of the doors/windows. They went out at different times.. not all at once. Cannot roll the windows down. Can't get inspection sticker now that this has been added to inspection.

First the drivers window went out but first it worked and then didn't and then did. Then the 2 back windows went at different time. Only passengers window can be rolled down from drivers door. Those not working also do not work from their individual doors.

HELP please! I am a 67 year old widow and can't afford a big repair bill but my inspection is overdue and I have to get the windows to roll down.

Thank you very much. Guess I just dont' have any choice. Wish I still knew some mechanics in the area but all I knew died years ago and they are so bad about ripping the elderly off. Thanks for the info. At least know I know what to ask them to check first. Hopefully they won't keep it in the shop too long since I have no transportation and neighbors dont' either because they are too old to drive. Thank you.

You are just going to have to break down and buy some switches I believe. they are known for going out on that model. if you can find someone to test them at the switch to see if it is the switch or the motor that is what you need to do. most likley switches is most of the problem . thanks Jerry holler if you have more.

Only passenger side electric window works on 98 Lincoln Town Car. Where is the fuse or relay that controls the windows?

THE CHILD LOCK MAY BE ENGAGED IT IS BESIDE THE DRIVERS WINDOW SWITCH. OPEN THE DOOR ON DRIVERS SIDE. TURN ON THE KEY. ENGAGE THE WINDOW SWITCH IN THE DESIRED DIRECTION WHILE BANGING ON THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR ENOUGH TO JAR THE MOTOR

I have a 98 lincoln town car.... and all the windows go down but the driver window.... when i try and roll the driver window dow i hear like a click sound in the door... sum1 hlp me...

Remove the door panel so you can see what is happening. It sounds like the regulator has a tooth (teeth) missing. If this is the case you will have to replace it. Sometimes a part can become bent and cause the same situation but you didn't mention any type of collision so I assume that is not the case.

I have a 1999 Lincoln Town Car. All of the windown

If it is the switch, both switches have to be defective, which is not impossible, but very unlikely. If during movement of another window you can distinguish the motor sound, but do no hear anything alike from the left back door's window, it is either the motor, or a loose wire after the switch. Most likely the point of interruption is where the door wires enter the door, due to constant bending there. Finally, if you hear the motor, it is the mechanism which the motor drives.

Electronic door windows not working

I would say the switch is going bad. That is the main switch. If regulators was bad i don't really think they all would go bad at once, so that is why i say main switch. Might find one at junk yard. Easy to replace.

How do you get the window cables back on roller and track on rt. drivers side door on a 1998 town car. I made a mistake of trying to fix a window that would'nt roll down.

Its not hard or expensive to fix just takes time. You probably need a new regulator which you can get for really cheap on ebay I did this already. Only trick to replacing it is you have to drill the rivets out to get regulator out and find bolts that will fit tight where the rivets were.
