You should check the owners manual of the car, many write it inside there, for VW it comes on a small card, if your not the original owner of the car you may have to contact the dealership and give them the numbers off of the back of the radio (yea, the back, its a pain)
go to your vehicle owners manual for reset radio code. if it's a stock radio or stereo system the code will be there.or there is a site on fixya.com for reset radio code.you will need to spend about $2.00 to get the code however.thank you for choosing fixya.com
OK,you only want to reset the maint.lights right? just disconnect the positive cable on your battery for 10minutes,BUT make sure you do not need a code to insert to your stereo system[anti-theft] to allow it to work. owners manual, check there 1st most likely you don't need the code but look to owners manual before you attempt this. just like a dead battery,if you've ever had one in this vehicle, and boosted it off from another, you will not need the code. but if you have not needed the code before, you will need to look at your owners manual before you boost your car. or else, your car will boost and engine run and no radio will operate, but you will be able to drive it. your stereo code [if needed] will be in the owners handbook, located in glove compartment of car] hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com!!
The RADIO CODE is the security number from device car; generally this is located in the stocker label in back side radio or in the last page of the owners manual. If you dont find it, need call to the delaer and with the VIN and Serial number they can send it to you (sometimes you need to pay for this service).
Call your local Mercury or Ford dealer parts department and they will provide you the security unlock code over the phone. Also try looking in the glove box for the original radio code decal, it might still be in there or look in the owners manual for the stereo code written down in the front or back of the book.
Your stereo may have a security code that needs to be entered whenever the radio is disconnecred from the battery. It's an anti-theft device that makes the radio worthless to theives (even though nobody would steal a factory radio but, I digress...).
Have a look through all of the documentation for your van, owners manual, any additional pamphelts, etc. There may be one for the radio that should contain the reset code.
err-3 means you have entered incorrect anti-theft radio code more that three times. If you do not have radio code you can most of the time find the code card tucked away in the owners manual pouch.(looks like a bussiness card)If you are unable to find card you would have to pull radio from dash and retrive stereo serial number, which is on bottom side of radio.once you have s/n you can take s/n to any acura dealership(has to be a dealer)and they can get radio code for that stereo through Honda Corp.once you have correct radio code you will need to first unplug radio,or disconnect battery to reset radio memory, then type in radio code.again if entered incorrectly 3x ,radio would need to be reset again too clear error codes.good luck!
Please check your owners manual for the location of the 10 amp fuse for the radio. On some models you have to reset the security feature on the radio/CD player for it to work.
The info below has been stated to work on a no go radio. I have not confirmed this procedure.
Remove the lower fuse box cover, with the power off, removed the 10 Amp fuse for the "Radio." the fuse may be good. Fuses are diagrammed in the owner's manual. With the fuse removed, start the car, turn the car off, replace the fuse and turn the key to "ACC" to see if the radio was "Reset."
Would the alarm cause the radio to malfunction? If your Anti Theft lock was activated check your owners manual under radio and check for a 4 number password. Sometimes it is taped to the upper part of the glove box. If you do not have the CODE you will need to take the vehicle to a dealership or a repair center. They use your vehicles vin number get the code.
