Question about 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport

1 Answer

Headlights work but parking lights dont..

Ok my daughter came to me said headlights dont work, so I replaced the switch, they worked for a week or so, she then came back to me said they are flashing on and off when light switch is on, so I replaced switch again but this time if headlights are on parking lights are off if I pull knob just past the parking light setting they work if I pull knob right before you turn on headlights and wiggle switch I can get both to work. Here's the catch I have replaced switch 3 times since the very first time and get pretty much similar results wiggle here wiggle there and all lights work. I can turn headlights on and can make connection with paper clip and everything works. The wiring connector has all wires seperate so there isnt no faulty or wires connecting to each other plus I have gone thru all wiring from switch to headlights and parking lights completely. So my question is is it really possible to get 3 bad switchs in a row, or is there something I am missing. All connections are in switch as I mentioned above wiring into connector under dash are all seperate.

If u have change and check the bulbs and fuses. great. fuses do go lose in a cherokee . move each fuse by hand while the lights are on or the switch is in the on position. if you find the problem this way. just take the fuse out and slightly twist the prong of the fuse and replace it back and ditto. make your daughter say " u d grate dad"

How to fix non working headlights

First check your fuses. If ok. Turn your headlight switch and see if rear parking lights turn on. If they do more than likely your headlight switch is not your problem. If running lights dont come on, check your headlight switch operation..

1994 dodge dakota my headlights and tail lights and brake lights don't work my abs and parking brake lights are on my dash lights don't work either I replaced the headlight switch and still no

These are all different circuits. The brake lights are on a 10amp fuse - the headlights are on a 50amp fuse - and the parking and dash lights are on a 20amp fuse.
Do you have power going into the headlight switch and the brake light switch ?

Lights will not turn on

HEADLIGHTS NOT WORKING

It can be faulty headlight switch or issue with its wiring. Or its faulty head light fuse.

It's not the brake switch. the lights for the brakes, turn signal, headlights, and parking all go to the turn signal switch/ multi fuction switch. this is wher your problem is probably coming from

If the tail lights and the dash lights stopped working and the tail light and the panel lighting fuses are both o.k. and you can find no other blown fuses then the problem is most likely the headlight switch.

Check all the fuses, if they're ok then check the switch or wiring, it might be that the wire running from the switch to the park / dash lights is fried. Does the front park lights work? (turn switch to first click, not second one. This is park lights, second click is full on headlights) Your park and dash lights are probably all connected to a single wire from the switch via the fuse box.

Headlights and dash light dont work

You would have to check and see if you are getting any power out of the light switch. There is a seperate wire for the headlights and the dash lights.
