Question about 1987 Chevrolet Blazer

87 blazer rear window wont open

I have a 1987 K5 (Silverado) Blazer, and I can't get the rear electric window to budge, whether with the dashboard switch or the key switch. The window has moved slowly for a number of years. Since the window won't open, neither will the door, and the only access is through the rear door cover plate (AFTER you climb in the back!). Not sure where to go with this.....

    I Allso have the exact same issue with my rear windows on my Blazer -87.
    I have replace the wires from the windows motor, to the front (two wires, up and down).
    I have allso maked a new ground with new cable, and the issue is still there.
    It´s allways go slowly for 3-5 seconds, and then it stops.
    Then i have to wait about 30 seconds, and i can continue for 3-5 second again until it stops and so on.
    But, if i connect a car battery direct to the windows motor, it goes fine and dandy.
    Is there an relay to the rearwindow motor.
    I had the same issue with my left doorwindow, but that was solved when i put a new battey into the car.
    Acutally i´ve got and bonus question, doo anybody know how to replace the windows in the backdoor??? i dont know if it´s glued into the windowsholder, pressed, or what? Do i have to desamble the hole backdoor?

Sounds like you have a wiring issue going on with one thing and the other has to do with the door itself

Remove the cover plate and try hooking up a 9 volt battery (yes the standard square household battery) directly to the wires coming from the electric window motor. Hooking up the wires one way will lower and the opposite way will raise the glass. If that doesn't work you'll have to replace the motor or whole regulator unit. If it does work then use a voltmeter to find out how many volts are reaching the switch. As a vehicle gets older wires get worn (insulation comes off easily and small wire strands break were there's flexing or pulling) and grounds become loose or corroded. Check and clean all the grounds you can see (rusty door and hinge could cause a lack of grounding so clean around hinges and the PW regulator bolts) and replace the wire from the dashboard switch to the window and you could add a flexible ground strap from window regulator through the bottom of the door to the frame.

Is it possible the replacement engine has a water pump that turns the opposite direction from the original ?
The thermostat has to be open to allow flow thru the radiator, have you tried running without a thermostat to check flow ?

Hi. Actually this is not a bad job provided that you purchase the motor and track assembly as opposed to the motor alone. Any auto parts store will have what you need. You begin by removing the interior door panel. If you break a few of the clips do not dispair as all auto parts stores carry them. The parts you need are all model specific, including the glass. That said, also call your insurance company as most folks have complete glass coverage. J.

Its time for a new fuel pump . The check ball in the fuel pump that holds the residual pressure you need to start up the vehicle is defective.

1987 k5 blazer dies during driving


Make sure your battery is secured by a good battery hold-down system...if the battery shifts in the tray and the positive terminal touches the fender, the dead short will immediately kill the vehicle.
Also, take the alternator to a parts store and have it tested if your battery is held down firmly. The whining noise can be bad alternator bearings. On a vehicle of this vintage, this is a possibility for the noise. It is furthermore possible that the alternator has died electrically, and during a lengthy drive, the vehicle's own electrical consumption will drain the battery and the vehicle will die en route.
When you jump it off, it gets enough charge from the donor vehicle to drive, but if the alternator is dead, it can't keep the vehicle supplied with enough energy to operate.

IF you put the vehicle into park it should release fairly easily. Do not try to force it. If park doesnt work try nuetral but I believe on that it is park.

My rear window is stuck down in my 1989 k5 blazer.


If you can hear the motor turning but window is not moving, then the window most likely came off it's track. You will have to remove screws and pry off the door panel and replace window on track
