If you remove the lightbulb in the glovebox, everything else that might be on the circuit will continue to work.

Glove box light won't turn off

Check around the area that the glove bx contact when you closed.
There is a tiny switch there (spring load kind push in and out).
-If you find it, push or press in by hands to see if it off or not.
-If off.>>> You need to adjust the glove bx door to push in when it in closed position.
-If it's not.>>> Replace the switch.

1985 Cadillac Deville, the fuel pump stopped working. Replaced it and found out it wasn't the problem. When i turn off the ignition and pull the keys the dummy lights stay on (check engine, alternator,...

no, check all fuses in fuse box and under dash below glove box. sounds like there is a fuse that has been "blown" will need a wrench or socket driver to access RH fuse box.

My van battery is good what could cause it to drain the alternator is good

something that is always on such as alarm systems, remotes, clocks, computer, is now drawing too much current which kills the battery. brother in law installed aftermarket items loom large on the list, the way this is determined the **** way is to pull one fuse at a time and let it sit over night. when the fuse is finally pulled which, when left out, allows the car to start the next morning you have begun to isolate the bad doodad as it is on the circuit of that fuse. another faster way to do this is put an ammeter in line with your battery and begin pulling fuses until you pull the fuse which cause the amperage to drop down to almost nothing. you have then isolated the circuit on which the bad doodad resides. you can live without that doodad or replace it.

If the battery is draining when the car is off most of he time it is from eather a light on the you may not be able to see like a glove box light or a radio staying on

to fix this u will need a test light (borrow one or buy one there cheap if u dont have one)
disconnect the positive battery cable attach one end of test light to the positive battery post attach other end of test light to the disconnected battery cable if the light real bright start pulling fuses until the light goes out or goes real dim (the dim light is the draw from computer, radio, etc so small of draw wont hurt battery) once you pull the fuse that makes the light go dim or out check that circuit for short circuits

if when you put test light on light not on or real dim before u pull fuses you more than likely have a weak battery that wont hold a charge

Why does my battery keep going dead I have relaced it 3 times a new alternator if the car sits for 2 days or more and is not started and ran the battery is completely dead

BATTERY DRAINS ARE TRICKY. TURN OFF ALL SWITCHES, CLOSE GLOVE BOX. MAKE SURE GLOVE BOX LIGHT IS OUT. OPEN THE HOOD. DISABLE THE UNDER HOOD LIGHT. CLOSE ALL THE DOORS. MAKE SURE ALL COURTESY LIGHTS ARE OUT. DISCONNECT NEG. BATTERY CABLE. USE 12 VOLT TEST LIGHT, CONNECT ONE END TO A METAL PIECE ON THE MOTOR FOR GROUND. FASTEN THE OTHER END TO THE NEGATIVE BATTERY POST. IF THE LIGHT IS ON, THAT MEANS THERE IS A BATTERY DRAIN. LIGHT NOT ON, NO DRAIN. IF THE LIGHT IS ON, FIND THE POWER BOX NEAR THE BATTERY. PULL OUT ONE FUSE, IF THE LIGHT STAYS ON PUT HE FUSE BACK, PULL OUT THE NEXT FUSE. IF THE LIGHT STAYS ON PUT THE FUSE BACK . REPEAT THIS UNTIL THE LIGHT GOES OUT, OR GETS VERY DIM. OUT IS BETTER. WHEN THE LIGHT GOES OUT, THAT IS THE CIRCUIT THAT IS DRAINING THE BATTERY. REFER TO OWNERS MANUAL TO IDENTIFY THE CIRCUIT. IF THE LIGHT NEVER GOES OUT, REMOVE THE WIRES FROM THE ALTERNATOR. IF THE LIGHT GOES OUT, ALTERNATOR NEEDS REPLACING.

92 Accord Battery, Alternator, Battery Cables and fuses changed out. Battery is being drained dont know what else it could be...Help me please!

sounds like you have done more work than needed I wouldn't have changed your alternator, waste of money

1st check your battery with a multimeter (go digital if you can) theses are very cheap to buy, and you will use it a lot, set it to volts DC as per instructions start car and connect multimeter probes or clips to appropriate battery termianals, read display it shoud be 13.8 volts,, you now know battery cables and alternator are fine,, disconnect battery and do the same with multimeter on the battery again, leave sitting and watch reading if it goes below 12 volts over an hour your battery needs replacing.. If all good check when the battery terminals are back on tight and clean put the multimeter probes on termianls and ignition off and watch to see if reading starts to drop, if nothing turn ignition to accessories with everything turned off and again watch meter,, its a long process If you find it is still draining then pull a fuse at a time and check meter each time, if still dropping put the fuse back in and pull another one out.... repeat process till found........ before you start check glove box light isnt staying on, boot/trunk light is going off, ( put someone in there if you cant see) ,, If you have put in an aftermarket stero it may draw to much and you may have to upgrade your system, start with checking your battery

It sounds like you have a bad diode trio in the altanator. to test remove the belt off the altanator then turn the key on and see if the fan on the altanator spins if it does thats your problem. If not then get a 12 volt test light and remove the negitive battery post and put one end of the lead on the battery and the other on the cable. with everything off does it light up? Yes? then make sure the glove box light is not on, or remove it for a few days and see if the problem goes away if it does you have solved your problem. you can test it with the glove box light out with the test light. If the light stays on you can pull one fuse at a time to see if you pull a fuse it goes out. if it goes out with pulling a fuse then you have found the problem with the circut giving you the problem, after you loctae the fuse take it to a shop and tel them the fuse that stops the light from being on. If you need more help post here.

Battery drans even after being on charger all night. new battery and alternator. went though fuses and all ok there. dont know what it could be

Something is staying on after the car is turned off. Try putting in a dark garage and check interior lights, glove box, under hood light, etc. Also keep in mind even new parts can be defective.
