Question about 1995 Jeep Cherokee

1 Answer

Jeep starts after much effort

Although this has nothing to do with starting, the warmer it is outside the more resistant my 1995 jeep cherokee is to starting. Some days I can hold the switch all the way over to the point it should be grinding and it still runs. Even though it is running the radio and electrical is not. It turns over but wont fully start. Is the problem in the switch?

Sounds like you already know the problem. Sometimes you can adjust switch position on column but if that does not work, change the switch. To get to it you need to drop column off dash mount but don't have to remove it.

I have a 1995 jeep grand cherokee laredo. the only time the jeep will start is when the check engine light comes on and goes out like its suppose to.pulled the codes nothing there gives me a 55.if you turn...

You jeep ecu is in need of repair. Your jeep is suffering from what is called the 'delayed check engine light problem'. It's a common problem on that generation jeeps, but it can be repaired. Check on Ebay for that ecu repair service.

Changed alternator and disconnected battery in the process. security system will not let me start the car

I don't think 1995 Grand cherokee has an immobilizer. Aftermarket security. Will it stay running if you keep your foot on the gas? Sounds like you need to perform the idle relearn procedure.

My 1995 jeep grand cherokee limited is not starting, changed ignition coil, rotter and cap gave a full tune up and still nothing happend,is it the computer?

There is a known problem with the 'neutral starting switch' that has occurred in two of our several Jeeps. Try starting it in neutral and park both and 'jiggle' the selector while you are doing it.

Trouble code for 1995 jeep cherekee

Code 55 is the "goodbye" code. If no codes were in front of it, there is nothing logged into the computer memory There are things that can cuase an no start condition that are outside of the computers ability to check.
Exactly what are you seeing when checking the problem? Include tests you have done, what happened before it stopped, and what you are not seeing as well(spark, fuel etc)

Engine code 95 jeep grand cherokee lerado

12 is a battery disconnect within the last 50 start cycles and 55 means the end of the diagnostic cycle.  Basically the computer found nothing wrong. The 12 code may seem incorrect if you haven't disconnected the battery recently, but from my experience the 12 code shows up almost all the time regardless.
