What type of noise does it make. check if it has "blowby" . Blowby is when there is air coming through to the fuel system. It means that the rings , bearings , and other critical components are bad.The engine needs a complete overhaul or a new engine block. Maybe even the heads. if's it's a ticking, clicking kind of noise it is the valve lifters or rocker arm problem.such as the valves.

Remove the oil pressuer sending unit and install a manuel test gauge what is the oil pressure when it is cold after it has warmed up and at 1200 rpms. normall pressure should 30 psi and hold steady. from what you are saying you are not going to see this reading. do you have high miles on this mtr. is the oil pick up tube pluged up.remeber a oil pump only pumps oil your main bearings and cam bearings cerate pressure good luck kdc744

If engine is noisy then you have an actual oil pressure concern.Sending unit only reads the pressure. I would recommend you have an actual oil pressure test done to see what your oil pressure is.You didn't mention what engine you have but rule of thumb is 30 psi at 1500 rpm warm engine.

Oil light is flashing

Check oil level immediately. Do not operate engine if oil level is good and light still persists. About the only other thing to try is changing the oil sensor. A mechanic can place a testing pressure gauge in the sender port to verify oil pressure and if it bad some internal work will need to be done.

Where is the oil pressure switch at on a 2003 ford escape

Hello,

The oil pressure switch is on the front left hand side of the engine. But the sending unit is on the right hand side of the engine, that is the passenger side. Behind the AC compressor.

Hope This was helpful. Thank You for using FixYa!!!

Oil pressure light comes on.. what do i do?

Could be a few things but you should start off by checking the level of your oil. Make sure it is in the safe area

2001 ford escape.. oil light comes on when at a stop and in drive. when i give it the gas the light turns off. i checked my oil, brake, coolant and tranny fliuds and are all fine????? no funny sounds????

this light is indicating your engine has low oil pressure sensed at idle, have the oil pressure checked with a special mechanical oil gauge, if the oil pressure checks ok then just replace the oil pressure sending unit, do this ASAP, if u do really have low pressure u can damage the engine bearings, a very expensive fix.

you need to have someone check the oil pressure to see if it is actually losing pressure or if sending unit is going bad. this is done with a mechanical gauge. Or you can just replace sending unit this is about a $20 part so cheap enough to just try. If you are actually losing pressure then you have scored bearings on the crank shaft. If not too bad can replace main bearings and a new oil pump.
