"Needs Maintenance" light on 2006 Sienna

We have a 2006 Toyota Sienna w/ 3.3 V6.
The "Needs Maintenance" light comes on when it wants the oil changed.
However, once I change it myself the light does not go out on its own.

How do I reset this so the light goes out and it resets ??

Thanks !!

thanks for the clear explanation! The manual implies I should start the car while holding in the button which is obviously wrong. Thanks for saving my sanity! Been messing with this for 3 days now.

I get many calls a week for this procedure...
This is really easy! Follow these directions:

Turn the key ON

Look at the odometer, and verify that it displays "ODO" and the total mileage traveled. If it is on "Trip A" or "Trip B", press the black stick next to the odometer to read "ODO", and the total miles traveled.

Turn the key OFF.

Press in, and HOLD the black trip meter reset button, hold it in.
DO not release it.

Turn the key ON, do not start the engine

Observe the Odometer display. The total mileage traveled will disappear, and you will see 5 dashes, then 4, then 3, then 2, then 1 dash, and finally, 5 zeros. Then, the total mileage traveled will redisplay.

Release the black trip meter reset stick.

This completes the reset procedure, and it will be back on in 5,000 miles, to remind you of you next oil change.

Hope this helps!

Yes its inside the sump ,so renew the ends and mains whilst your at it as this is no doubt the cause of your low oil pressure

How many quarts does the sienna 2006 needs when perfoming oil cha

Exactly five quarts to do an oil change on this van assuming you are also replacing the oil filter.
How long between oil changes is typically recommended to be 5000 miles by Toyota. The van's service reminder light comes on at 5000 miles just for this purpose. To increase that interval is your choice.

How to reset maint req lite on a 2005 sienna

Reset the "MAINT REQD" Light on Toyota Sienna:
  1. With the car started (ignition on), set the LCD odometer readout to total mileage (not trip A or B).
  2. Turn the car off (ignition key to the OFF position).
  3. Push in AND HOLD the button/knob that switches the odometer
  4. Turn key to ON position without starting the car. You will notice the maintenance light blink and go out.
  5. Release the odometer button/knob.
  6. Turn key to OFF position.
  7. That's it! The "MAINT REQD" light has been reset to warn you to change your oil in another 5,000 or 7,500 miles or so.

Hope helped with this (remember rated this help) Good luck.
