Do you know if the plug is closer to the drivers side or the passenger side on top of the transmission?

It's probably on the side of the transmission. Remove it and fill with 90w transmission oil until it runs out the hole. Replace the plug and your good to go.

Thats because the fill point is on the trans you will have to crawl under the vech and look for a plug at the top of the trans remove that plug make sure you add the right fluid check with the dealer for the recommended fluid add the fluid until it runs out the hole let it set for awhile install the plug start the vech run it through the gears and recheck good luck kdc744

I have a 99 jeep it started acting crazy and checked the oil the dip stick said it was bone dry so I put 3 quarts in it and checked the oil again and this time it was about 3 quarts to much

my guess is you used the wrong dip stick,
i cant watch you mess up. jeep stated a 99 what?
wrangler, Cherokee or grand Cherokee?
so i bet you have an automatic trans, right?
then pulled the dip stick on trans thinking its the engine
or the reverse. bad news if true.
find someone that knows the difference or read the lost operators guide.

and error 2, the stick empty is not bone dry, not ever.
yes real low. so and 1/2 quart at a time , not 3 qt ever.
until the engine stick is at normal..

if this is a transmission, and you put engine oil in there
all hope is lost. and the method is hot running, to add ATF fluids.
unlike the engine method.
my best guess totally BLIND>

Transmission dip stick keeps popping out

check trans. fluid level per owners manual. The high operating temperatures cause fluid to expand greatly,an over-filled transmission can actually force excess fluid out of the dip stick tube.check level with trans. hot, engine running in park on a level surface. After driving, place shifter in park, hold brake and move shifter through all gears and back to park.remove dipstick, wipe clean,re-insert and check fluid level.normally, trans fluid & filter should be changed +/- 100 k miles

Where is the reservoir located on a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee to add transmission fluid?

there is no reservoir, the trans is self contained, you add fluid through the dipstick tube

Where do you add transmission fluid

Auto matic trans? look for dip stick tube on either side of engine.
If it is a maual trans 5/speed look for a plug on one side of the transmission about half way to the top of the trans.

Does the rodeo have a automatic transmission dip stick? My son has a rodeo and he tells me he has to climb under the truck to check the trans fluid. I've only had to do this on a manual...

No dipstick, no fill tube. There is a fill and drain plug on bottom of transmission, both face down, the fill is recessed higher. Not on the side as with manual trns you have seen. Take a short low speed drive to warm fluid as it should be "measured" in it's warm expanded state. Turkey baster or equivalent( old gear oil bottle) to squeeze fluid into hole until runs out. While running. Joy. Might as well use lucas brand trans fluid rejuvenator it comes in a squeeze bottle you can fashion a hose to.Cut nozzle a little smaller than hose and squeeze hose through from inside nozzle.

How do i fill the transmission pan with oil on a 1991 jeep Cherokee

Assuming that the transmission is a automatic, you fill it through the transmission dip stick tube. Just make sure you do not overfill it.

!995 jeep gr cherk. transmission fluid. add hot

Its best to add while all is hot..
Leave it runing in park while adding fluid..
Put a little at a time and keep checking being careful not to over fill..
The dipstick mesures in pints - not quarts..

Rate well ;o)

Where is the transmission fluid reservoir

there is no transmission fluid reservoir. with the engine running at operating temperature on level ground, you need to pull out the transmission dip stick, clean it off, reinsert, remove and check level. as long as it's in the hash marks don't add any fluid.
