Heater fan not working

Smack it and see if it comes on. If it does then the motor brushes are bad. If it does not come on, check the fuses. If the fuses are ok, check the voltage on the plug to the motor.

I have a 1997 ford econoline van e150. The heater is not blowing hot air. I got a new switch motor but some told me it needs to be timed. I don't know how to do tht Please help

If the fan motor is not running & you replaced switch problem could be blower motor or blower motor speed resistor if you vehicle has one.
Check with auto parts store if your vehicle has a resistor.
I hav enever heard of timing for/of a blower motor or switch.

the blower motor resistor is in the blower motor housing under the dash behind the glove box. It usually looks like a flat plastic piece with 2 screws and wires coming out if it. It isn't that obvious sometimes so look carefully and know that it is inserted into the part that goes to your vents from the blower. Replace that when you find it and you will fix your problem. auto parts stores carry these...

No power to the blower switch or blower motor or to the connector or resistor-relays and fuses are ok so are the items previously mentioned

I would 1st jumper 12 volts to the blower to see if runs, the motor could be defective, it is fairly common. If the blower checks ok then replace the blower motor speed control resistor (located next to the motor plugged into the air ducting for cooling of the resistor), the thermal limiter fuse that is part of the blower motor speed control resistor is blown.

2005 Avalanche blower not working on any speed, checked fuse seems to be ok. Removed glove box ,not sure what to check. Thanks James,

get a circuit tester and attach it to 12 volt battery circuit.then find the blower motor resistor and probe the wires going to it. the test light should come on if the resistor is good because it is suppling ground to the blower motor. each wire is for a different blwer setting so you will have to check them all on different levels of the blower switch.

It is -40 today and for the first time ever, my blower motor will not turn on. I have no defrost, no heat. Help!

the fan either is frozen, or it is bad. if the fuses and relay are ok. and there is power to fan resistor. change resistor to see if this is the problem. go to any auto parts store and they will tell you where resistor and blower fan are auto zone etc. if resistor is bad then no power to motor.

No fan for the heater

First check the fuse for the blower motor in the fuse panel if it is blown replace it and see if blower works. If still not working you will need to buy a test light from your local auto parts store and check for voltage at the blower motor red wire if the test light shows voltage you might have a bad blower motor. There's a trick to test the motor called the tap test start the car and turn the heater fan on high using a mid size screw driver tap on the blower motor and see if it comes on if it does you need a new motor.

Where is the blower motor resistor on 1999 ford expedition

Look for the plug ends on the new part. The old part is usually recessed in to the housing by the blower and retained by a couple of screws. Find the terminals that match the new part on the blower housing. Remove the recessed part from the blower housing and install the new part and your problem will be resolved.
