Get another technician that knows what he is doing Who suggested the ECU? They very seldom fail (2% fail rate industry wide) and many times customers are told "OH it must be the computer" sound familiar?
easy to do on older vehicle as they are not a stretch belt ,put a 14mm spanner on the adjuster and turn clockwise and the tensioner goes up and in allowing the belt to go on ,might be a 16mm bolt head but it one or the other its just that i do so many cars i cannot remember them all
the spanner symbol is indicating your engine/car is due for service/maintainance which if your vehicle is high milage ?/ it may also require the cambelt renewal and the tensioner may i suggest you do not ignor this warning light i am sure you have heard horror stories of the consequences of engines cambelt breaking ?? hope this helps and you heed advice given ?
