Sounds like a blown head gasket with a possible cracked head since those are aluminum. my advice, if u want it, is to buy a used motor rather than replacing just the head due to the high cost of the head alone.ttyl

Sounds like you are burning oil.

Possibly due to mechanically failure in the piston department ?

Check your oil and coolant levels.

Check the fan belt tension, jump start, and go from there.

I believe you need professional help.

Good Luck !

A FixYa rating would be appreciated Please !

Blueish white smoke comeing from exhaust

Hello There

White smoke when first started is normal. If white smoke continues you have an internal coolant leak, i.e., cracked head/blown head gasket.
Black smoke is caused by a rich fuel condition.
Blue smoke is caused by oil consumption.

You need to check your oil cap for yellow/white gunk on the cap if you have this then this is a sign your head gasket is cracked. Check to see if your radiator coolant level is down this is also another sign.

Hope this helps. Please don't forget to rate me.

Many Thanks

White smoke on start up

white smoke is a sign of water in the exhaust , the question is how is it getting there , if only when initial start then goes off then it's only condensation in the exhaust system heating up and turning to steam , if it goes on when driving check coolant level and check engine oil for signs of coolant contamination

I have a 99 Saab 9-5 2.3L turbo. When I shifted it would blow white smoke for a second. Yesterday it started billowing smoke then died. Now it won't start and it turns over very rough. Please help.

Generally white smoke is a sign of coolant in the engine.
Its possible you have blown the head gasket and coolant is leaking into one or more of the cylinders.
You could pull the spark plugs and check for coolant - also run a compression test.

Hi, we got a kia sorento.Starting it from cold, gives off too much smoke but we had the injectors changed and bloke said it will take a while for it to settle. been 2 long any advise thanks.

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

How long has it been since the injectors and block replacement? I strongly suggest that you spray the tail pipe with water and soap to take the oil residue out. Once the oil is cleared the smoke can be lessen although the smoke is just normal for it's on the break in period.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Have you checked your engine coolant.
White smoke is a good sign of a blown head gasket or failed intake manifold gasket.
Check your coolant first and your oil.
Check oil and see if it seams over filled.

Lots of back fireing. does not run fast, white smoke

White smoke is generally a sign of buring antifreeze which is a sign of a blown head gasket. Pull your oil dip stick and see if the oil is milky white. Open your radiator cap and start the truck. Do you have lots of bubbling going on or is there a oily residue in the antifreeze? If so these are other signs of a blown head gasket.

Smoke and water from tailpipe

That white color is a tell tale sign of a bad head gasket, when the head gasket goes your coolant mixes with your oil and the burns off causing the white smoke. I hate to give bad news but it's not cheap or easy to replace.

Hope this helps

We have not ran the car in a while a little white smoke

White smoke is a sign of a blown head gasket and coolant is getting into the engine with the oil and gas. Check your coolant for signs of oil, and smell for signs of gas. Check your oil and see if it is milky. Milky oil means that coolant is getting past the head gasket.
