My s10 oil moves from 60 pass 80 on my gauge when idling and has trouble taking off Could it be my oil pump

Use a pressure test gauge to verify the pressure fluctuations at idle. It could be just a malfunctioning sender. If the pressure is, in fact, fluctuating then the pressure regulator is going bad. It is part of the pump so a new pump will solve the problem.

The oil sending unit is located on the engine block behind the drivers cylinder head area. You have to climb up on the motor to see it cause it is hard to see behind the wiring harness. You may also want to purchase a new sending unit because it is very long and you might need to buy the sending unit socket to replace it.Hope this helps.Good luck.
