Question about 1993 Volkswagen Eurovan
It is not a fuel issue. Before these problems I changed the fuel regulator and the fuel pump and fuel filter are both new recently changed. It has new plugs, cap and rotor. I changed a faulty temperature sensor, the one with 4 prongs. Before this problem it started idling rough like it was overfueling and one cylinder wasn't firing. It isn't an injector problem and is definitely a sensor or otherwise electrical. It seemed to be loading up on fuel during idle and stalling. This progressed to the 5 second run and stall. It was leaving lots of carbon on the ground from the exhaust. Since I changed the heat sensor and fuel regulator the 5 second run time is smooth. When I start it it will do one of two things. It will run for about 5 seconds and then stall or it will run for a quarter mile then stalls. Once it does stalIs it will only run for 5 seconds. If I leave it sit it might run for another quarter mile and get me back to my yard. I tried disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes to see if the problem could be a reset issue.
It sounds to me that the problem is in the distibutor

I had a log truck that did that and it turn out to the regulator on the firewell on the fender. i say with the newer vehicle nowdays this regulators are now in the alternators and some of those automoblies have relays( on the firewell of the fender) that work with the alternators.
