I have heard of this Damaging the Valve Body on these. I would just Install an Aftermarket Shift Kit and it will shift a Lot Better and you will get more Power if you Purchase the B&M Shift Kit. Works Really Well on these Tranny's.

Any Tranny Shop should Carry these Kits. You could try to Locate the Kit Online or just Pick up a Hot Rod Magazine or Truckin Magazine and check the Ad's, That's where I get most of My stuff. Also Check out Jegs.com

You might need to replace the valve body clip with the upgraded (stronger) one. Ford had problems for a while with the clip breaking and not allowing the tranny to shift into O/D. I had the no O/D problem, I replaced the clip with the upgraded (stronger) one which fixed the problem.

Change tranny fluid 1993 Chevy pickup drive only gear now

You may need a trans shop to take a look. Often times changing the fluid and filter on a vehicle thats over 15 yrs old causes more problems than it solves. Draining the fluid and changing the filter removes particles that were keeping the clutches and bands working. Something could have clogged up one of the ports on the valve body too.

1996 Plymouth Voyager starts in 2nd gear and never shifts regardless of how much gas I give it. The RPMs race up, but it never shifts. It is an automatic transmission with a 3.3L engine. Mechanic told me...

The valve body is a part roughly the size of a 8 X 11 piece of paper, only about 4 inches thick.
It is made of aluminum, and is really filled with lots of holes and passageways.
It is up inside your transmission oil pan.
As you drive, transmission oil is supposed to circulate inside this, and change your gears as you drive down the road.
These do fail occasionally, and are expensive to replace, often costing 1,000 to 3,000 to change, as most shops will overhaul your whole transmission in the process.
If you will type in " Ebay motors", and then type in "Plymouth valve body", you can see a picture of one.
Be blessed.

I have a 96 s10 blazer that shifts hard from first to second gear when on long distance trips. I got a new green spring from a local tranny shop to install on the valve body but which part of the valve...

I have a 96 Blazer also, and had the same problem a few years ago. My problem was the rear axle slipping. I had the one side that was slipping replaced and it works fine. You might won't to check it out. If you feel the thump from behind you instead of under your feet that's probably the problem.

1996 audi a4 transmission hard shifting

Get the transmission scanned at the dealership. If it has incorrect gear ratio code stored, it needs a transmission. Only the torque convertor or valve body can be replaced for any repairs at the dealership, so it needs to be diagnosed correctly. Any authorized ZF transmission repair shop can also repair them, more than the Audi dealerships can, so thats another alternative.

The check balls I put back in were slightly larger. You should be able to get them from any transmission shop or the Chevy dealer. I got my gasket from the Chevy dealer.
