Question about 2003 Kia Sorento

Power windows The power windows on the driver side and front passenger side of my 2003 Kia go down but do not go up. You have to play with the switch to get them up. I have replaced both switches. What else can it be?

No, they both go down smooth, this is why I don't think it is a motor issue. You also have to lower them all the way down, then like I stated, you have to play with the switch back and forth, then pray they go up.

How do I check voltage? I am totally clueless when it comes to this.

  • ebonyeyezzz Feb 06, 2009

I don't but will buy one tomorrow, also if the motor and plugs are dirty what do i clean them with? What should the voltage read? Should it be the same coming up as going down?

  • ebonyeyezzz Feb 06, 2009

Thanks so much!! I will try this and make sure I come back and post the results.

If this is the case, it is the power switch, which needs to be replaced for that specific window such exm. rear passenger, front passenger, rear driver, or master. Just replace the power switchfor that specific window and it should work. I have the same promblem and this is 99.9 percent solution to fix this promblem

I would check for proper voltage. Make sure you are getting enough voltage to take the windows back up

Do you have a volt meter? If you do, then touch one wire and take the other probe and ground it to metal on the door

  • Jeremy Reddick

The voltage should be around 1 to 1.5 volts. You can clean them with just some cleaning agent or try some oil. Yes the voltage will be the same both ways

Tried it today and none of the windows work from master switch on drivers side except ft passenger window, which went down but will not go back up.

You can't put up the front passenger window with it's own switch ? Did you check the POWER WINDOW RELAY in the instrument panel fuse / relay box ? An you checked POWER fuse 30amp same fuse box ? All window switches have direct power from power window relay !

KIA SORENTO RIGHT RIGHT FRONT DOOR WINDOW OPENER DOES NOT OPERATE PROPERLY

the switch is bad or lose. can it be opened from both the driver side and the passenger side controller? One switch may be bad and not the other or if both switches are good than it is in the wiring to the power window or motor.

I need an electrical diagram showing wiring from the base,to power windows on a 2003 Chevrolet Venture,my power windows won't work either side in my 2003 Venture, checked power at fuse box next to...

Check the main fuse box next to the battery, # 8 max fuse powers IGN MAIN 2 Ignition Switch to Fuses (I/P): BCM PRGRM, FRT HVAC LOW/MED BLWR, FRT WPR/WSHR, HVAC/DRL, MALL/RADIO/DIC, PWR QRT VENT, RR HVAC, RR WPR/WSHR, SWC ACCY & PWR WDO Circuit Breaker.

#3 circuit breaker is the front window breaker, try swapping it out with another breaker beside it and thats located in the side dash panel also.

The common cause of failed power window function is the switch on the doors going bad from dirt. Does the power window on the passenger side go down with the passenger side switch?? if it does then its a bad drivers side and and try cleaning the switch with electrical contact cleaner. 95% of the time this will save you from buying a new switch.

keep us posted and thanks you for using fixya

2003 F250 Power Windows won't work

check fuses 35 & 41 (10 amp, red).
it also shows an accesory delay relay in the fuse panel.
And fuse 601? 30 amp.

make sure you don't have lock-out on driver switch panel activated.

Power Window System
Features and Operation
NOTE: The accessory delay feature will allow power window operation up to 10 minutes after the ignition is off or until a door is opened.
If equipped with power windows, the window control switch (14529):
  • will operate the power windows only when the ignition switch is in the RUN or ACC position.
  • is located on each front door trim panel, and Crew Cab and Excursion rear door trim panel.
  • may be used to raise or lower the driver side, passenger side and rear windows from the LF control on the driver side, or the passenger window from the passenger switch.
  • includes a one-touch down (OTD) feature for the driver door window.
  • can partially lower the driver side window when the LF window control switch is depressed half way (first detent).
  • will completely lower the driver side window when the LF window control switch is fully depressed and then released (second detent).
Power Window System — Modes of Operation
There are two modes of operation for the power window system.
Manual Mode
When the LH window control switch is pressed to the first down position, the window will move down until one of the following conditions are met:
  • The LH window control switch is no longer in the first down position.
  • The LH window control switch is pushed to the OTD position, causing the windows to enter auto mode.
Auto Mode
Auto mode provides the OTD feature. The OTD feature is activated when the LH window control switch, for the LH window, is pressed to the second down position.
Auto mode will be terminated when any of the following conditions are met:
  • The LH window control switch is pushed to the UP position.
  • The LH window control switch is released (OFF position) and then moved to the DOWN position (first detent) or OTD position (second detent).
  • Note: Delayed accessory feature must be active.
The OTD feature is controlled by the window control switch.

---------------------------------------------------------
Condition Possible Sources Action
  • All power windows are inoperative
  • Fuse(s).
  • Circuitry.
  • LF window control switch.
  • Accessory delay relay.
