took my car in to my uncles shop and had them poke around and check codes, UNBELIEVABLY the guy I bought the car from had silliconed the distributer cap and my distb was FLOATING in oil!!!! Had to have a whole new distb put in along with other things, did have my fuel filter changed but that was not the prob.(although it was really gross and needed a change)The mech said he has seen this done to other cars but on the newer ones it causes more probs than it fixes seems people think it will keep out moisture but in the end.......

Check you ignition components to see if they are worn or faulty, this is usually the cheapest part that can cause this problem since your tach runs off the ignition.check fuel filter before fuel pump as this could be clogged and also not as expensive as a pump or oxy sensor. a faulty oxy sensor will set a code.

Dont know what the button is on the console of a 89 toyota camry le is for

This switch is for the Electronic controlled transmission. in the normal position the transmission uses its normal shift points. In the PWR position the shift point are delayed to give you the illusion of more power. Keep it in the normal position for everyday driving.

Sounds like the shift lock is acting up possible its a fuse, but I would think that its more serious.

PWR indicator light what does it indicate? on a 95 camry le

Automatic?? if it is, the ECT button for the transmission is set to ON....it should be near the shifter!! This just delays the auto-transmission to hold in gears longer!! Check also if the ECT button is damaged!! Hopefully this helps

Stupid engine light!!!

is it a V-6 or 4cyl. take it to autozone and have them retrieve the code...I have worked on all models of camrys...many problems can cause this like IAC valve(common on 4cyl) or timing is offset(very common on V-6). Transmission will not cause rough idle. Tacs on these models usually malfunction stemming from distributor cap/coil oil inside or just the tac itself. Hopefully this helps!!

92 toyota camry e electrical question

I had the SAME problem with my 1992 Camry LE...except without the water..First, check the back up lamp fuse (there is more than one circuit on that fuse, not sure which). The water would have likely shorted out the circuit. First check for power at the reverse bulb while the car is in reverse (You can do this with the car off) If there is power, check the ground wire, if it is bad...if you splice the ground wire before the connector and run a new wire to a ground in the trunk, then it should work..thats what was wrong with mine..hope this helps

it sounds like you ground the spacers between the gears. have a look under the gear shift. pull the gear shift off then look at the transmission spacers. you will see where the gear shift sits see if some spacers look like the rest.
