    Sorry, it is a 1.9L

  • bob_the_truc Feb 06, 2009

Yes, I checked them with a snap on meter, I think one of these fuses was a 100 amp and the other a 30 amp.

  • bob_the_truc Feb 06, 2009

It has a new fuel pump, I will do more checking, thanks.

  • bob_the_truc Feb 06, 2009

Ya, I'm sorry, I did check them that are inside the car, but then I had also checked the main fuses under the hood by the air intake box, them are the big ones.

  • bob_the_truc Feb 06, 2009

Ok, I will check that out tomarrowand trace it back, are you going to be around tomarrow? Thanks, Bob.

Engine fuse is a 15amp and meter fuse is also a 15amp both in the instrument panel fuse box.

You said the fuses are good? Did you check the meter fuse and the engine fuse with a test light or meter to make sure you had voltage thru both?

Ok check the DB wire at the coil make sure you have power there. Also I am looking at a 93 schematic(don't have a 92) it shows PCM relay next to the battery junction box or under hood fuse panel.Make sure you have power on the BK/W(this is the coil side of relay) and W/DG.(this is the switch side). If coil is energizing it should also have power on the W/R wire to feed the PCM.The BK/DG is the gound for the coil side.

Motors need two things to run fuel and spark, make sure you got both!! Theres a specialty tool to check for spark that you can buy at harbor freight or at a local auto parts store, You connect it to the spark plug wires one at a time and crank the motor a little light in the tool will tell you when current is flowing through. If your fuel pump isn't kicking in when you turn the key forward right before cranking the starter (you'll hear a buzzing sound comming from the tank area) then you're not getting any fuel, and you won't get the car going at all. Hopefully you haven't been driving around with less than a half tank of fuel at all times, because the fuel helps keep the pump cool and if you run low on fuel all the time then your pump is more likely to burn out.Hope this helps you!!

The PCM sees dead spark so cuts all fueL? sure.
(it will, if it does?, scan it yet? cranking, that be first.)
The PCM can cut fuel for many reasons.
2 dead sensors, and spark dead on the tacho line.
1,2,3 bam
and immo set. 4
and the inertial switch, if fitting many are not.
what matters most (1st) is 12vdc to the pump actual cranking, does it have 11vdc at least>?
if you see 12vdc and PSI is 0 or not spec cranking
at the rail, then the filter can be clogged.
not just a dead pump,, i cant hear pumps cranking so.... i use TOOLS> to see whats going on.

the guage can be fixed by changing the fuel pump. actually if the pump is installed incorrectly then the guage will eventually go out. just had the same issue and i changed my pump and it worked.

Where is the starter relay on a 97 Mercury Tracer?

Under your hood you will be looking for a main fuse block. It is a small, fairly accesible block that is about 8" x 4". The box will have tabs on it that have pull or push printed into the plastic. Do as read, and pop cover off. Only problem with the wonderful world of Ford (Mercury is made by Ford) is they never index the location of the fuses and relays. Either way...the relay is under that panel. Without a diagragm you can check by having someone turn the car over to the "start" position and put your hand over the relays until you feel the one that clicks at the time of cranking. Don't let the clicking of the fuel pump relay fool you....that will click when the key is in the "on" position

Engine will crank motor is not getting fuel

Check the 20 amp fuel pump fuse. If that is good, find the fuel pump relay (probably in the engine compartment relay box) and swap it with another relay (maybe the horn relay would be good). If that doesn't work, see if you can find the inertia switch (check your owner's manual) to make sure it hasn't tripped. The last thing to check is the signal from the computer. You would need to probe the fuel pump relay socket to see if all the right voltages are there. See my post at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r6022358-relay_check to see how to do that. Let me know if you have questions.

Fuel injector fuse continues to blow

this usually occurs when you have too much current going to the pump or if theres a short you will need to trace and check all wiring a recent case same problem it turned out to be water in the fuse box under the hood
